I'm not going to crucify someone because they pissed in public.

When the DNR officials told Love that the children's parents may have a problem with them being in the presence of a convicted sex offender, she responded that "she did not think about it like that."

Ugh. My head hurts.

since when does the Department of Natural Resources have anything to do with dayfarkingcare?

Holy crap.

I couldn't get a job as a janitor once because of getting caught smoking weed when I was 22.

No, but I'm pretty sure that conviction for being a sex offender might warrant you not working with, I dunno, children. Not to mention the attempted murder and the like. If he wants to make sandwiches or wait tables, fine, but I think it's okay if a daycare looking at potential applicants passes over the guy convicted for attempted murder and sex crimes. Some education/life lessons/childrearing go on at daycares. The kids should have good role models, not questionable ones.

2012-07-10 08:55:29 PM
The investigation revealed that Love had met the sex offender while he was in prison and hired him when he was released in February 2012.

Even ignoring the sex offender issue, at what point did she decide to go looking around a prison to find people to work at her daycare? Was Craigslist too upscale for her daycare?

Children are our greatest resources. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride, to make it easier. Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one.

I wish more employers would hire ex-felons who are genuinely trying to turn their lives around; but that's not a recommendation for employers at child-care centers to go doing it. At the very least, if she wanted to hire him, it should have been as, oh, a janitor who came in after hours and cleaned up or something like that.

N.S.S.S.

Misapplied policy is still misapplied policy, no?

I vote chemical castration for egregious sex offenders, especially when it comes to children. And, obviously, decriminalization of marijuana in America. Our Presidents grew weed, man. Please. Modern chemicals voted down marijuana, and we ascribe to old news, essentially...

Read new news.

Look it up.

I can get behind decriminalization. Atleast you're honest about wanting it for recreation, which makes you awesome in my book.

I remember a story from 2004. Woman's husband had a child molestation conviction. She decided to try out day care anyway. Girl went to take a nap. She kept the door to the girl's room open because she didn't trust her man. She found the door closed and him inside stripped to underwear, so she went back to the living room to wait for him to finish.

Oh, piffle. Sex offenders ARE people too, but child molesters have a terrible recidivism rate, mostly due to the lack of treatment INSIDE prison and the insane restrictions on them OUTSIDE prison. Nobody's saying they're wonderful people who we should trust around our children.

And in this case, is the offender even a child molester? "Sex offender" does not a kiddy-diddler make. If the guy is a sidewalk-pisser, then I'd be way more worried about the theft and attempt murder convictions. If he's a serial rapist, then it's the daycare owner who needs to watch out.

He's been in trouble, accused and/or convicted, and in prison for a number of crimes. SERIOUS crimes, people. That shows an egregious lack of control, forethought, and judgement. He didn't steal a car or get caught jaywalking. No way in actual f*ck would I ever want a worthless nothing like that around my children.

/This is ASSuming his sex conviction is for a "real" sex crime and not him pissing in public or being 19 dating a 17yo, etc.
//If it's a "bogus/nonsensical" conviction there is also the attempted murder to fall back on.
