I know Eddie means well, but the Super Bowl halftime show has only involved big-name rock acts since the 90s. Before then, it was a mix of marching bands, Up With People, and Elvis Presto.

No way, The Who with a dead Entwistle and Moon, a deaf Townshend and a Daltrey with no voice gets that title. Zak Starkey and Pino Palladino are excellent musicians, but still.

I'm 52, a total classic rock fan, but even I'm sick of bands way past their prime being trotted out at halftime because of boomer nostalgia. What's even worse is that those acts are considered so safe and nonthreatening that they are considered in the first place.

My choice:


They have 15 minutes, right? That should be enough for 2 songs.
