I think it actually goes the other way. He's way too well known as Nathan Fillion to ever be Henry Pym.

2012-07-10 03:00:19 PM
Nah. Most people know him as that guy from Castle. He's gotten more exposure from that than from Firefly.

If he was going to be in an Avengers movie, he'd have to drop some of the bloat he's picked up over the past few years of cushy TV work.

As Hank Pym, wouldn't he first have to star in Edgar Wright's Antman movie in order to make the crossover to The Avengers franchise?

2012-07-10 03:07:53 PM
No, but he should have a scene where he photobombs the Avengers

They didn't all have "origin" movies. Although Widow did some time in Iron Man, and Hawkeye a brief appearance in Thor. At this point I think they could introduce a new character without their own origin movie, while also not diluting the main movie with excessive backstory and character development.

I'd love to see if they somehow introduced the Maximoff twins, and if they'd somehow at least manage to work in some connection with the X-Men.

Also, this.

It's not as if Castle's an obscure show.

Judging by the teaser during the credits to The Avengers, I would not be surprised in the least if this happened. I mean, how do you have *spoiler redacted* without at least a little bit of X-Men?

Much as I'd like to see it, I'd rather him finish his "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy.

I'm not sure Thor could deal with the hammer envy, and by hammer I mean.....

As much as I love and adore him, I did like that the Whedon regs didn't show up in Avengers. I would love Amy Acker in a lab coat in a SHIELD scene though.

He's already shot the test reel for it. And a comic book store in England near the studio where Wright works recently sold every single AntMan comic they had to someone from the studio.

It could still add up to jack shiat. He still has to do the third of his Simon Pegg Ice Cream trilogy movies or whatever the hell they call it.

I don't see him as Antman. I've just seen the Firefly stuff but he doesn't come across as a guy that could spout a lot of techno-jargon and make it sound believable. Did a little bit in Firefly because of the setting, but I couldn't see him playing Pym.

Now, he could totally pull off Wonder Man.

Just who could Bruce Campbell best be. That is the question. He is incredibly talented in his acting. Very versatile as far as I can tell. So who would be a superhero match for him.

Huh. Watched that movie twice and the whole time I thought it was him playing Hawkeye and not whoever that guy was that really played Hawkeye. Wonder why I didn't notice that before?

Fillion has been rumored for the role of Ant-Man, a founding member of The Avengers, for a while now

See i have one problem with this, Hank Pym was a ginourmous D-Bag. Wouldn't want him to play that particular part because i would be afraid he would get shiate all over himself.

FabulousFreep: Fillion has been rumored for the role of Ant-Man, a founding member of The Avengers, for a while now

The last thing I heard about the Ant-Man project was that there's a script featuring both Pym and Lang, with the Pym part being mostly a 60s-ish origin story flashback. Which, if that actually had a chance of being made -- and made before Avengers 2 -- chances of integrating Pym into the mainstream story line would be pretty small.

The sad thing is that for once Whedon's penchant for vapid skinny actresses would actually work, regarding Jan van Dyne.

Just give Fillion a peanut gallery baddie role. Something the Avengers (or just one of them) casually flips into a wall while the main plot is developing. Or a random "Master" of Evil (Whirlwind? Grey Gargoyle?).

Problem: Marvel doesn't own the rights to the X-Men for films. That, by the way, is why First Class was made. So long as Fox keeps churning out X-Men movies, they keep squatting on the rights. Same reason why Spiderman won't cameo in the Avengers.

He would be a perfect Shield extra. Make him a bridge bunny, or an agent who humorously gets his ass kicked by the baddies before the Avengers sweep in. Just put him in a suit, give him one scene and a few lines, and there would be nerdgasams.

/I would be having them.

You have to have a Hank Pym movie for the following reasons:

1) You need to explain Hank's issues with Janet

2) You have to let Hank redeem himself.

There's no doing that with Hank in the time constraints of Avengers 2

Today:
Hmmm... Maybe Ben Urich? Henry Peter Gyrich? Bolivar Trask? He's not exactly svelte these day, you know. I love Bruce, but he's not really in the age category to play most Marvel or DC characters...

Except, I think he'd be pretty cool as one of the Justice Society.
