Remember when Kruk cut-off that thrown headed towards home and flipped it to Daulton for the out. I think it was against the A's.

Silly Jesus: McManus_brothers: McManus_brothers: Silly Jesus: Maybe some of the baseball nerds here can answer this...

I have some vague memory of this guy lifting up the leg of a base runner and then tagging him out. I think the base runner may have been a Brave. Google is not helpful. Does anyone remember this? Am I becoming senile?

That would be Kent GODDAMN MOTHERF*CKING Hrbek, lifting Ron Gant off the bag, in Game 2 of the 1991 World Series.

Kent Hrbek, DIAMFF.

Here's a clip of the play in question:

Yep, thank you. No idea why I thought it was Kruk.

At the time I was sure that he lifted him up...now, after watching it again, I think Gant may have fallen off the bag either way.

/I also didn't remember Gant as being so damned tiny.
//He wouldn't have lifted Terry Pendleton off that bag.

My Braves fandom refuses to allow me to admit that it was completely accidental, sorry. And you're absolutely right about Pendleton. Ain't no way that guy would've been moved.

Kent Hrbek and Ron Gant. World Series, 1992. Blue Jays vs Braves. Gant was the runner.

It was 1991, Braves vs. Twins

Jesus, I knew that. Really. I swear.

dukeblue219: HotWingConspiracy: The Derby has to be the worst announced event on television. What a farking train wreck that was.

I'll tell you what annoys me is when they interview someone like Josh Hamilton or George Brett, and make the live image of the HR derby just a small little box in the corner. I turned on the damn HR Derby so I could watch the HR Derby... not so I could watch Chris Berman interview Josh Hamilton while ignoring the live action. It's not like live baseball where there may be little action going on and an interview spices it up a bit... it's the HR Derby! It's constant action and I want to watch it, damn it!

The best part is that they completely ignore the live action during the guest interview, but then when the interview is over, act like the live action is the MOST AMAZING THING THEY HAVE EVER SEEN!!1!

roc6783: When Adam Jones walked up and just started in eating, with no introduction, comment, or reaction, and Chris Berman goes, "And we are joined by Adam Jones, who seems to be enjoying these ribs," it was the greatest moment of live television I have ever seen.

Kruk's look of "WTF Adam Jones, why you eatin mah ribs," was just epic.

I thought that was great, too!
The crew is announcing and there's Jones, hanging out off to the side, munching away on ribs.

One minute he's sitting over on the sideline and then Brett brings out the ribs. "Daaaayyyummmmm! I'm going up there and getting me some ribs!"
