That was fun, but the sick part of me wishes that the game allowed bastardized combinations to simulate crashes.

That's what Orbiter is for, specifically Soyuz launches.

/I'm sure at some point I have to assume control on the Soyuz missions, but I never do
//I wanted to build one to launch a crew to Mars on this though, but it won't even let me build a Saturn V!

As an aside, my daughter and I built a beer can rocket while camping last week. It made it to about 100' before spinning wildly twice and hammering straight back down to earth.

/maybe a C-6 was a bit too much engine for this experiment

This is no Buzz Aldrin's race into space

I liked it, but it was missing that part where you have to shoot a few hundred missiles into Britain for the Nazis before defecting and then finally getting to put something into space.

I couldn 't find any o-rings when putting my rocket together, hope everything works ok.

I imagine if anyone likes this, they'll also quite like
Kerbal Space Program

That was pretty boring, actually. It wouldn't even let me choose the wrong rocket. I want to launch the GRAIL probes with a Pegasus and watch them smash into the earth but it won't let me.

That Kerbal Space Program game is so much fun. I should check it out again and see if they've added anything recently!

I managed to land on the moon and get back safely without cheating, but I couldn't quite manage to crash into the sun...

Woah, they totally have added new stuff since I last played! Awesome.

They are in alpha still, but you can buy a copy on the cheap and get all future versions free! The paid version now has Kerbin, It's moon, the Mun, and a planet way out far on an inclined orbit called Minmus. And monoliths to find, and moon arches.

The modding community has made rotating joints, satellite remote control networks, power systems, hydrolic pistons, cars, there is even a whole space plane module now (Though it's not very well implimented, but it's alpha.) You can even map planets with a satellite. Produces a nice jpg.
