GoDaddy.com, the cock teasers of advertising. Internet content is not rated*

She used to be an Indy Car driver. Won a race in Japan. Looks like a royal biatch. A pretty royal biatch. Last seen at the back of the field in the minor league stock car series.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Hinch start to recreate some of Danica's commercials, scene for scene. He seems goofy and self-effacing enough to do that.

It's pretty funny watching her fight for 15th spot with teenagers who can count their wheel time in hours not years and the also-rans who are just happy to be there.

Who is less deserving of the media coverage they attract? Danica or Tebow?

Are you operating from the premise that media attention was ever doled out based on merit?

Have you ever actually watched a Nationwide race, or know anything about the drivers there? Because what you just said is one huge, exaggerated generalization, that is simultaneously disrespectful to the other Nationwide drivers, as well as Danica.

I always wondered if any assholes were dumb enough to actually go to godaddy.com to see more.

I just assumed that it would be bullshiat and pointless, and kinda sad.

thanks for affirming.

Gotta be Danica. At least Tebow won a Championship in college and is considered one of the best college football players ever. Even if he never plays another NFL down, his story is worth telling.

Danica...um...she participates in a lot of races and does stupid commercials. But that doesn't stop ESPN from breathlessly covering her prospects for every race as if she's right on the verge of becoming Richard Petty.

/do they even race the same cars?
//Nevermind I don't even care

I think he ranked importance there, by putting the "other Nationwide drivers," first. There are a lot of young kids in there, but these days most of them have already been through dirt track Legends, Sprints, modifieds, and/or paved short tracks since before they could legally drive on public roads, much how modern F1 drivers start out in karting then move on to junior Formulas at such a young age.

What dallylamma said was pretty farkin' retarded, regardless of Danica-hate.

I did, in fact, watch a good chunk of the June 29th race at Kentucky which was dominated by 22 year-old rookie Austin Dillon. During that race a large chunk of time was devoted to showing Danica Patrick and 18 year-old rookie Ryan Blaney, making his third career start, fight for 15th position.

Dillon started first and finished first. Patrick started 11th and finished 12th. Blaney started 14th and finished 15th.

Now given that all three drivers were probably in above average equipment given who they are and the families they come from...don't you think seven years (IRL debut 2005) experience in top level racing should have given Patrick the advantage?

I mean, she got beat by Kenny Wallace! Can you tell me he's not out there turning laps for fun and a little easy money?

I should have qualified that the teenagers have hours, not years, in Nationwide cars...not race cars in general. As noted above, Blaney held his own against Patrick in his third career Nationwide start.

Ah, fair enough. Though overall, I'd say even then that a lot of these kids still have as much or more "stock car" experience than a Danica or other open wheel convert. There's the pavement modified local events, K&N East and West series, ARCA, and truck series. You'll find guys like the Blaney kid and Dillon bros have hit much of that up -- not to take anything away from their talent. I even think your examples are better than Danica -- but it's not like they haven't been prepping for exactly these sorts of vehicles their entire lives, rather than trying to make an adult conversion to them from an utterly different open wheel background -- something drivers with more open wheel success than Danica have struggled mightily with.

I think it's fairer to compare her to those open wheel converts rather than born and raised stock car kids. In that assessment, I find her to be middling. She'll never be a Tony Stewart. Juablo is better than her. She's probably better than the likes of Milka Duno, Jacques Villeneuve on ovals/the last 5 laps of any given road course, or Scott Speed in these cars, and on par with the likes of Hornish in them, unless he steps it up real soon. In the end, it's looking like she'll be lucky if she matches John Andretti's level of success. (1 Indycar win, 2 NASCAR wins.) Not great, but but not the worst.

Certainly not deserving of all the attention.

I give precisely zero farks about GoDaddy and their bullshiat marketing campaigns. I just came in to say this:

Danica is a royal pain in the ass. Hinchcliffe is hilarious, super nice, and a bad motherfarker behind the wheel. So, good for him, I guess.

Danica is in JR Motorsports equipment, which is basically a Hendrick Motorsports offshoot.

Ryan Blaney was in Tommy Baldwin Racing equipment, which is the same team that his father is driving for in cup.

They are worlds apart, team wise.

I'm glad for Hinch

He's quite entertaining on and off the track, and is exactly what the IRL needs.

First off, her IRL experience is going to have absolutely zero to do with her ability in a stock car. They both have 4 wheels, end of comparison. And second, there are other ways to accumulate stock car experience before racing in the Nationwide series. Austin Dillon is a truck series champion. Ryan Blaney raced ARCA, K& N, and other series before Nationwide. Both of them have Cup racing in their future and have natural ability. Danica has maybe 45 total stock car starts, and given her record, should not be expected to run top 5. The other driver you mentioned, Kenny Wallace, has over 500 starts in the Nationwide series since the late 80s.

I don't think it's fair to undersell the talent of the Nationwide series, or try to compare Danica's experience level to theirs when this is the first year she's devoted solely to stock car racing. Not making excuses for her performance, just pointing out how ridiculous and irrational the backlash against her has gotten simply because the media pays her a lot of attention. And apparently when anyone tries to defend her from these types of attacks....

So the answer is no, you don't want to discuss racing, because you have no idea what you're talking about.

But hey, at least you're witty and original. You should do stand up, I bet you'd make a killing.

Lighten up, Francis. This is FARK, not "SeriousOfficialHardcoreAutomotiveRacingForumFor100%DiehardFansOnly." Look around a little... there's memes, cliches, mamma jokes, and even the fabled BIE, all over the place. If your nose is going to get this out of joint every time some other random FARKer *gasp* chooses not to seriously discuss the topic at hand, you're gonna be madder than a no-armed man at a bra-unhooking contest.
