(Yahoo)   Mitt Romney says there is "nothing hidden" or embarassing in his unreleased tax returns-so that's that and we have no need to see them. Also points out that these are not the droids we are looking for   (news.yahoo.com) divider line 248

I'm wondering if his embarassment would come from his lying to his business associates and bankers about the state of his personal finances.

Turns out he took oil & batteries off as medical deductions.

Look Mitt, I'll be glad to let this whole thing go if you just show us the records. I mean, if you have nothing to hide, what's the problem?

Yeah, but Mitt never explains later, or at all. That's all his father's campaign did.

In 2008, Romney submitted 23 years of tax returns to McCain.

Then McCain picked Palin.

Mitt Romney should release his taxes when we get to see "Barry" Hussien's birth certificate, his grades from Columbia, his middle school long form vaccination report, and his kindergarten transcripts from the madrassa in Kendonesia.

It amazes me that the GOP would pick such an easy target for their candidate. I really think they thought that Obama was so universally hated that they could nominate ANYONE and still win handily. That's what you get when you start believing your own spin.

I never really thought about that, but damn, that is an amusing fact.

#1: There is nothing wrong with off shore banking accounts
#2: There is no point in having offshore banking accounts if you aren't trying to be a tax dodge.

What was it that was said over and over by the Right around the passage of the Patriot Act?

Oh, yeah, "If you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear."

That statement just made some opposition researcher happy.

Is that really true? I don't remember hearing it before now. If so, damn, the Democrats and their super PACs should pick that up and run like hell with it.

Romney was the best of a shiatty field.

My grandmother is in disbelief. "Four years to beat the ni*bong with a better candidate and this is the best you can do?"

She's seriously thinking about sitting it out. And she's a poll worker!

In other news, Mitt Romney decided to replace that campaign official that keeps making conflicting statements with a more experienced manager.

Isn't that the same arguments the die-hard pro Patriot Act people use? "If you have nothing to hide you should have no problems with extremely invasive searches."

2012-07-10 11:37:27 AM
Can Obama put Romney's tax returns under executive privilege? I would be highly amused if he did that?

2012-07-10 11:38:18 AM
S'cool Mittens, I understand the reality of not necessarily having immediate control of all the paperwork.

But, and I'm going out on a limb here, I suspect you have the number for the sumbiatch who DOES have your paperwork on today's version of speed-dial.

Call him.

I tried the Go Phone ST instead of an iPhone this year. Can nobody but Apple make a decent battery? Jesus.

Actually, scratch that. I want whatever batteries they installed in the Romneybot. If it's enough to keep that massive automaton behaving vaguely human, than surely it can handle making a few phone calls and running a Nintendo emulator without needing constant recharging.

FTFA: "I don't manage them. I don't even know where they are," said Romney in an interview with Iowa Radio. "That trustee follows all U.S. laws. All the taxes are paid, as appropriate."

Ignoring his asinine "I don't even know where they are" comment, this part is actually artfully phrased: "...the taxes are paid, as appropriate." I suspect Romney isn't so much worried that he'll be outed as a criminal, but as a filthy rich guy whose army of accountants seeks out every possible deduction. That in itself isn't illegal, obviously, but once the masses of $43,000 a year Limbaugh-listeners find out that they're paying more in taxes than this quarter-billionaire who hasn't worked in a decade, he might have more difficulty playing the "just folks" role he's already been struggling with.

No, it was the opposite, remember? They thought Obama was so unbeatable that all the real GOP challengers stayed away. That's why we got Santorum and Bachmann and Co,

Fartbongo still won't release his Kindergarten transcripts. BSAB

2012-07-10 11:51:12 AM
FTFA: "If, for instance, you own shares in Renault or Fiat, you still have to disclose that in the United States," Romney said. "So, you know, I understand the president's going to try to do anything he can to divert attention from the fact that his jobs record is weak and he has no plan to make things better."

Nice non sequitur there. This guy's a pro.

Having an undisclosed, wholly-owned shell corporation HQ'ed on a tropical island famous for its status as a tax haven and money laundering point, stinks to high heaven no matter WHO you are

It's not so much that Romney games the system, it's that he doesn't want to change the system that allows him to game it.
