So, not that different from how team USA looked in China's 2008 Olympics with their Ralph Lauren uniform.

2012-07-10 10:02:40 AM
I thought he's had the Olympic contract for a good long while now. You look at the Olympic procession every team is costumed in a pretty conservative, formalized "sports wear" look. We just happen to have the king of sports wear designing our procession clothes.

Why does Subby HATE America?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Can't wait to see what happens to them walking through the east end of London in that.

2012-07-10 10:07:23 AM
I'd love to see them parade one year in full KISS make-up and leather regalia. THAT would be the show.

2012-07-10 10:07:45 AM
I'm okay with them because at least they're tasteful and won't try to be all avant guarde.

looks like Danny at the yacht club in Caddyshack.

The unsmiling faces and ridge posture in the photo make it look like German athletes at the 1936 Berlin Games. Also notice that the girls aren't wearing the proposed high heels and sexy hip-shifted posture.

2012-07-10 10:09:58 AM
As opposed to what? Dressed up in white muscle tees, motorcycle jackets with "Born to raise hell" and Old Glory stenciled on the back complete with worn Levi's and biker and cowboy boots?

2012-07-10 10:10:27 AM
Better to look like preppy douches than Jersey shore douches.

2012-07-10 10:10:53 AM
The women better hope it's not windy.

2012-07-10 10:11:47 AM
Why the hell are they wearing berets with the flag of France on them?

2012-07-10 10:12:22 AM
The jackets, trousers and skirts are probably okay, but not everyone can pull off a hat or beret. Also a large group of people in identical hats says "fast food" to me

I don't hang out with those people.

how cool would it to be if the theme for the uniform was "gay pride parade" omg i'm loling just thinking of the possibilities. The athletes could walk in behind Saudi Arabia screaming WHERE ARE ALL YOUR ALLAH's NOW then they could all do bath salts and start going zombie on everyone.

/bath salts mmm mmm good

a Big Pony logo, paired with cuffed, cream, flat-front trousers. Female athletes will don similarly embroidered, fitted navy blazers, knee-length, cream silk skirts and silk scarves.

[howiknowyouregay.jpg] or not?

Subby sounds poor.

Why wouldn't we want our team dressed up for the opening ceremony to the Olympics?

I'm generally not a fan of the preppy look (esp. when it's offered as the "grown up" alternative to jeans and t-shirts), but it could be much worse. I present to you the German 2012 team:

Ah, Subby, the memories.

All of the 'better than you' kids in high school wore 'Ralph Lauren' and the guys always made sure they reeked of 'Polo'.

I vowed in Grade 10 to NEVER EVER wear anything 'Ralph Lauren' in memory of the douchey assholes that seem to worship the brand.. Still holding to that 25+ years later. I guess the brand's target market has changed from 1984.

That is a damn shame. The hilarity that would come from one of them tripping and knocking down the rest of them, like a horrible ankle-twisting version of dominoes... It would be priceless.

I really liked Canada's when they had Roots doing the design.

Enough that that's the only clothing designer/country relationship I can even remember off the top of my head. I bought a pretty awesomely designed shirt for not that much money as my one souvenir from a Toronto trip.

...However, I do now realize I entirely blocked this out.

So, from that pic, do Chad and Biff 'Eiffel Tower' Mindy on the yacht, or, is it more an MMF thing?

Anything's better than those white caps. And the jackets are a bit more of a military cut in the 2012 version. I don't know, the new ones look okay to me.

It's always good to go with the "LOOK AT MY CROTCH!" look, I suppose, but the ceremony outfits look like they should be paying people visits after UFO sightings.

Not surprising at all. The whole Olympic experience has turned into a complete douchery design show.
It took a commitee the size of congress a full year to come up with this.
i877.photobucket.com

The amount of money they spend trying to outdo the previous olympic opening ceremony would feed a poor country in Africa for 5 years.

I think we were talking about which designers should be doing the uniforms instead of RL. If not Nautica, how about Nike:
