Yeah, but it can work out all right if your lawyer is a top gun.

Top gun? The guy is a legend.

Best guy in the firm?

I don't know about that, we'll discuss it over a Cocktail.

Maybe, but I'm sure they knew if they went to trail that they'd be losin' it.

True enough. I hear there are some minority reports about Toms odd activities.

One can imagine the collateral damage should those ever come to light.

Fallout coming down like rain, man.

Indeed. He'd have to brace for several days....of thunder.

Looks like Katie took a page from the Scieno playbook. According to Radar On-line, part of the settlement agreement is that Suri's nanny and bodyguards will accompany her on visits with Tom, and presumably report everything they observe to Katie. Just like the Clam staff did on Katie to Tom.

Re: dirt Katie had - there was a not-so-blind item recently about a celeb wife walking in on her husband and another man, and this week Ted Casablanca was fired from Eonline for accidentally-on-purpose revealing Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner as the two men.

Well, whatever the dirt Katie had, it was damn good, for Tom and the CO$ to capitulate so quickly. But she better keep that large bodyguard detail for years. And stay out of Paris tunnels.

Someone post the publicist thing so I can get trolled again. Seven years and I get trolled by that. Someone post the baby's ashes too, I give up.

Also, ask Rob Thomas and Jeremy Renner about Tommi Boi, don't throw this all on Beckham

DancingElkCondor: Katie wins....

With such a quick settlement, TommyBoy coughed up a a hell of a lot more money than was in any prenup. He could not have Katie talk more about CultoS and expose its inner workings. The stuff that already came out made CultoS quite nervous.

TommyBoy also knows that anything happens to Katie or Suri....he and CultoS will be the first blamed....and neither can afford a big PR hit

So ya think they will collect more "tithings" from their middle class members to cover the cost of Tom jumping on the grenade to save the church?

Yep, that's got to be the fastest divorce settlement I've ever seen for a celebrity marriage that lasted for over a year. Hell, look at the Kim K. Kris. H divorce. That thing is dragging out to be longer than their marriage.

I think part of the reason he married outside the church is to get another celebrity to join up. That's how he himself was recruited, after all. It's like the Habsburg path to world domination.

In Oregon, you can get divorced in 1 hour, provided you are an Oregon resident.

In north Carolina, you must demonstrate that you've been living apart for a year.

Not sure what it is in CA; also, they probably had it all figured out MUCH before they went public

Unless she has incriminating and devastating information ready to be released if there's an "accident", and "tripwires" if Co$ thugs try to raid places in search of said information.

Katie Holmes may have become a Magnificent Bastard before our eyes.

As douchey as the Catholic Church can be, no one tops Scamentology in that department. At least with Christianity, when the collection plate comes around, you don't have to put money in it to keep worshiping.

Plus, Katie Holmes' dad is an attorney, so you know that guy worked Tom Cruise for every penny he could get for his daughter. And planned out every aspect of the separation/divorce, likely.

I imagine this has more to do with what she knows about CoS than what she has on Tom, specifically. And Tom would (I am assuming) sacrifice a lot for his "religion" so if they asked him to let her have whatever she wanted in exchange for a gag on CoS affairs, I'm sure he would have done it.

I'm sure Tom has his skeletons like the rest of us, but this whole things reaks of a squeaky cleanliness that CoS is known for. Maybe it was both. I dunno. Hopefully someday we will.

I'm sure he's grateful that his secrets will remain out of the public light-- looks like his lawyer made all the right moves.

He's been consumed by this knight and day.

....AND inexplicably under what can only be described as a 'vanilla sky'.

I'm sure she'll keep the child far and away from the COS.

She'd better. BTW,was Suri born on the fourth of July?

But was Katie only thinking about the color of money?

Another good ques-whoa,I just spied a magnolia!

Tom's lawyers are just a few good men I'm sure.

They view themselves as lions(protectors)for lambs(their vulnerable clients).

ROAD HOUSE!!!

CoS rode in like a valkyrie and saved the day.

Or so they think. Can they accomplish their true mission? Impossible.

I know I might be in the minority. Reporting frivolously about this matter isn't doing Suri any favors.

Too bad it wasn't a long, drawn-out legal struggle so we could see who taps out first.

Was hoping they'd make it because they seemed to have an endless love.

On this matter, I've given up the ghost. Protocol dictates Anonymous should attempt to stop this from escalating and damaging Holmes' life away from Cruise.

You'd have to have your eyes wide shut not to see this going badly for both of them.

Spanky McStupid: Daym! What does she have on CO$ and Cruise?

That's what I was wondering. Even in normal person terms this divorce went warp speed from filing to settlement. It definitely set a land speed record in Hollywood terms.

Miss Stein: Re: dirt Katie had - there was a not-so-blind item recently about a celeb wife walking in on her husband and another man, and this week Ted Casablanca was fired from Eonline for accidentally-on-purpose revealing Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner as the two men.

See this only confuses me because isn't Mr "I swear the man I'm living with is my business partner" Renner living with his... "business partner"?

But apparently he recently picked up a random guy at a party in front of everyone, so I guess not. I wish all the gay actors would just come out already.

There is only one way to test the validity of this story, how tall is Renner? If he's taller than Cruise, the story is false. If he is shorter than Cruise, there may be something to it.

Maybe the "business partner" went back to being just a business partner. I'm confused though, about the Ted Casablanca blind thing because the blind that everyone suspects he got fired over did "accidentally" include the name Jeremy when it was Boobiesed on E! but it wasn't about Cruise and Renner, it was the picking up a random guy at a party one that you mentioned.
