Wooo I'm in.

2012-07-09 10:09:28 AM
I would come, but I'm moving out of state about two weeks before that to start grad school. :( I somehow always miss the Philly parties.

2012-07-09 10:27:06 AM
Oh hell yes. I'll be there.

2012-07-09 12:29:31 PM
I might. It's been a while since I've been to Philly. Although it doesn' look like it's actually in Phladelphia, which would be much easier.

I'm all about public transportation and cabs, especially when I want to get my drink on.

The last train out of Downingtown headed for Philly leaves at 11:37 PM. The one before that is 9:13 PM.

How about having a Philly Fark party in Philly and not out in the sticks

2012-07-09 02:58:17 PM
Am I the only one that read that as victory blowjob? Man I need to sleep.

2012-07-09 02:58:35 PM
I will try and be there for sure, love me some Victory. And Fark. Might by in Cali for a wedding, but if not I'm in!

Same here. I'm in West Chester. I don't know how the hell I've managed it, but I've worked here for 4 years and lived here for 3 and still haven't made it to Victory. I've had plenty of their beer, but haven't managed to drag myself out to the brewpub.

2012-07-09 03:00:36 PM
Wouldn't this technically be a Downingtown Fark Party?

2012-07-09 03:01:16 PM
Why the hell have it all the way out there? If you really have a jonesin for Victory, have it at the Xfinity live center.

2012-07-09 03:02:57 PM
Down in G-town? I could be talked into that.

THIS.

It's a perfectly cromulent city.

2012-07-09 03:04:14 PM
My friend used to be a brewer at that Victory. Now he works somewhere else, Slyfox I think.

As for the 'out in the sticks' comments, you couldn't be wronger. Yes it is west of actually philly by about 45- 60 minutes (depending on traffic) but it's not Parkesburg or Gap.

This is probably the closest Fark party to me that I will not attend.

2012-07-09 03:05:13 PM
I'm in. I haven't been to a Fark party since Snakes on a Plane in King of Prussia.

/I think we met after at Kildare's.

2012-07-09 03:06:06 PM
Are girls allowed at these parties?

/did the Victory 5K a year or two ago

This! It's not a Philly Fark Party it's a "Somewhere in the Bumblefark Suburbs of Philly Fark Party". What's wrong with Chickie & Pete's or Finnegan's Irish Wake? Or any of the other hundreds of bars actually in Philly? Unless this party is moved to a bar that's actually in Philly, I'm not driving over an hour to get to a "Philly" Fark Party.

/End rant...

Both Parkersburg and Gap aren't "out in the sticks". They are borderline Pennsyltucky...

Jesus christ....what a bunch of whiny coonts.

2012-07-09 03:14:25 PM
I'd come, except that is an HOUR from Philly. Might as well have it in soulless KOP.

I have to agree with the other whiny coonts--it's not a Philly Fark Party at all. And I agree with Brap that the closer to CC the easier it is for out-of-towners.

Nevertheless, I'll still make an attempt to get to the Pennsylvania Fark Party. September is far away though.

As far as regional rail.. if you don't live on the Thorndale line or in Center City, you'd need to leave before 10pm to catch a train to Suburban Station to catch a train to another line home.

Brilliant.

I just came in to say that Victory brewing is awesome-sauce.

I do!! My sister's husband is from York...I know what it's like out there! Her Mother-in-Law had two kinds of Tupperware... Everyday Tupperware that was used to store food in the fridge or cabinet and Good Tupperware that was used to serve food on special occasions and Holidays. And when she passed away, God rest her soul, all of her friends wore their best denim to her funeral. Yup, there's nothing quite like Pennsytucky! The only good thing about it is Shady Maple. Mmmm smorgasbord! Now there's a place for a Fark Party!

You guys are quite welcome to organize a party in the city. As I'm putting this one together, I think Victory is a great place to have it.

Lurkers are very welcome! As far as I know most of us won't know the others, so it's not like you're missing some deep connections that non-lurkers share!

Of course! Most Fark parties I've been to have not been sausagefests, so you probably won't even stick out. And I did the Victory 5k a few weeks ago!

You know, a bunch of you dumb-asses could plan together and and figure out the taxi/booze-bus situation before hand, or even look into hotel rooms.

GOSH! IF only you had nearly 2-months to plan! And a common, public message board on which to plan it!

/has a friend in north Philly, would consider this, but is honest with self and would probably just stay at his house and drink 'till all hours of the night.
//At least I admit I'm a loser and don't blame weak excuses! Victory Brewing is great beer!

I got beat at darts there by some girl with no personality.

2012-07-09 03:35:23 PM
I'll be there. It's kind of a hike to get there, but the brewpubs/taprooms that are more convenient to Philly residents are kinda crappy.

I'M LOOKING AT YOU, YARDS.

2012-07-09 03:42:46 PM
The Victory Brewery/BrewPub is a hell of time. If the Farkers seem to boring for you all, the bar is pretty happening place to be otherwise.

I will also tell you that this isn't the "sticks" Downingtown/chester springs? Exton etc.. are amoung the richest zip codes in the state and the final destination amoung many of the Philly Elite.

IF you do choose to go more Philly just do this. Victory Beer Hall At Xfinty Live across from the Stadiums in South Philly

http://xfinitylive.com/index.cfm?page=dine-drink-play&venue=2

/lives in Downingtown and gets a kick out of these

2012-07-09 03:43:06 PM
I would go, except it's forever away. What about Triumph Brewing Company, IN Philadelphia, or the Grey Lodge, in NE Philly, or South Philly Tap Room, in South Philly, or somewhere like that? Heck, I would even attend Johnny Brenda's. They're all large enough to hold bigger groups of Farkers, not to mention would be more convenient to get home from for people who actually live in Philly without risking one's life?

Tea/Educated and Cakehunter had one there sometime in 2006? 2005? It was a lot of fun. A bunch of us carpooled out. It really is a perfect party spot.

I'm pretty sure "sticks" in this circumstance is referring to the limited public transportation, need of a car to get around, etc. Downingtown isn't exactly a burgeoning urban area.
