i thought the revelation that Miscavige's wife is dead and was dumped overboard from a Sea-Org cruise ship, and that Mr. Miscavige had her did in because he was banging new Scientology recruits and his wife found out, and that Tommy helped to subdue and give her an e-meter reading which went off the Thetan charts and decided she was 'beyond rescue', was the 'biggest nightmare'.

One big huge spotlight on the "church" and it is sorely needed. If you become a tax-exempt organization (they did it through extortion and burglary) then you need to be more transparent. I'm also looking at you Catholic Church.

As always, please see Operation Clambake for more information on the "church".

I agree with that. The only reason why they're a religion and farking Tony Robbins isn't is because they had a good legal team. So the government should be allowed to set a few ground rules like make your "bible" freely available and stop being a farking cult that shelters your followers from the rest of society.

The more I shamelessly follow this story, the more i notice that the body posture of Katie has recently showed complete aversion to Tom. Like in this article, she's "holding" his hand (ok, more likely he's got a death grip on her) but she's physically leaning away from him, while also looking at a phone. What I just now noticed in the same picture, is that Suri has a similar posture. It's like a bubble of batshiat crazy is literally pushing them away from him.

Fun fact: Battlefield Earth was actually written by post-Scientology Hubbard while he was in hiding (from various threats that may or may not have been imaginary). Which is probably why its reception was lukewarm at best despite it actually being pretty well-done for mid '80s science fiction.

//Hubbard's high point as a writer: 1930 - 1945 or so. BE: 1986. What happened between can be summed up as "borderline case of Schizophrenia causes well-regarded writer to alienate literally every single person in the literary community". More tragedy than comedy in his career, frankly.

Does David Miscavige actually believe in his religion, or is he aware that it's a scam, and he just leads it for evil personal gain?

Either way, he's an excellent replacement for Lafayette Hubbard. Sad, really, that this cult survives after the loss of its charismatic leader.

Considering it's still thriving after the last CEO (who they consider god) died, I don't see why Miscavige's end would mean the end of the CoS. Hell Miscavige's actions have caused a ton of people to leave and denounce the church, so if anything he's doing more damage to it while alive than if he died.

It's better to keep a fool at the top and let it crumble because of him than have his successor be successful.

Oh I'm sure he knows he's bilking the sh*t out of gullible people. There's various clips of Jason Beghe (actor and ex-$cientologist) around on Youtube talking about his dealings with him...apparently many of the "courses" you have to take (and of course pay for) are constantly being re-worked while at the present time always being sold as "the correct, complete" version of said course, and yet when invariably the "updated" version of a particular course comes out, you're told to pay yet again to take an updated version of something you already paid thousands of dollars for when literally only very minor tweaks are the difference between them.

The book "Blown for Good" by Marc Headley goes into just about everything Scientology doesn't want you to know. But it's mostly about how insanely cruel David Miscavige is. I think the book is only $8 on amazon for the print and the kindle version. I read it not too log ago, and I thought it was a great story. Couldn't pit it down and finished it in two days.

It has been asserted by those in the know that Cruise is the second or third highest ranking member of the church. If Miscavige goes down there's a good chance Cruise will be running the whole thing, and as we know from his films, he likes running.

See, for me, the Cruise hate has always been kinda on the backburner: I never got what my girlfriends saw in him. I remember having to spend Friday nights seeing Risky Business just because I got outvoted on which movie we'd see. Ugh!

It went to full-scale loathing once he went on his anti-psychology/drug rant. How farking DARE he speak as an 'expert' on post-partum depression. Seriously just sent me into a vortex of hate for him, and while I fully realize that my disdain for this little mutant man doesn't even register the most microscopic of blips in the universe's 'Top Bajillion concerns for the day' chart...I won't pay to see his movies. If I am outnumbered on my group's movie nights, If he is in it, I buy a ticket to another movie, and roll my eyes at his laughable attempts at emoting. (I've read that his contracts all contain payment clauses of a percentage of box office, and I'll be damned if I give that weaselly little worm one dime towards spouting more of his anti-psychology herp-a-derp.)

It also doesn't help him that I will NEVER, EVER get my life back that was lost sitting through Eyes Wide Shut.

speaking of Real Americans and the tabloids.... there may be truth to the rumor after all that Scientology had Ted Casablancas fired from E! after he fked up a blind (intentionally? accidentally? who knows) about Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner. He claimed that Katie was upset Suri saw Tom and Jeremy in bed together, and that was one of the final pushes to divorce.

Me, I don't know why a woman would marry a gay man in the first place. He's gay, he's not interested in anything you have to offer, and the kids should be gently told the truth about Mommy, Daddy and Uncle. If the adults don't make a big deal, the kids won't think it's a big deal. Apparently, Katie thought it was a big deal, though.

But Tom and Jeremy shouldn't have gotten a man fired over it.

I think my hatred of him stems from me being a tall person and having to have dealt with so many short guys and their "short guy's disease" bullshiat. I'm 6'7" and have had more than my share of these sawed off pipsqueaks with a big fat chip on their shoulder thinking they're going to prove themselves somehow by picking a fight with a big guy. I get those same vibes whenever I see Cruise. Combine that with the fact that I've known so many tall beautiful women with shrimpo boyfriends who boss them around all the time.

I'm with you on the $cientology crap. I would love nothing more than someone from the IRS to grow a pair and take these people on once and for all. The fact that they were permitted to basically manhandle our government is extremely offensive to me.

Pretty much this. I understand her wanting to protect her daughter, so I can't really blame her for this outcome. But think of all the poor people who are still stuck on that nightmare, on the rehabilitation project force, in the hole, whatever... And all those families that have been forcibly disconnected. Their best hope to get their lives back is gone now. But expecting any other outcome was silly. Of course Katie was gonna settle. But man, to see Scientology taken down...

THIS! That movie was so terrible I think it gave me cancer. I kept hoping it would redeem itself somehow, but it was terrible right to the very end. And not in a "MST3K-worthy" way, but more of a "I'd eat a bag of broken glass before watching it again" way.

Granted, there was a pretty solid prenup going in...but it sure seems like she had to have gotten a blank check in return for mum's-the-word silence on CoS and Tommy's batshiat craziness. (Gay, straight or bi is irrelevant: Given that period a few years ago without professional 'handlers', I got the sense that he was going 'Full Cruise'. You never go 'Full Cruise'. She had a front row seat to what must have been pants-crapping crazy.)

Yeah though, boobies do not redeem a bad film. Not a 3 hour $100 mill film by a great director anyway. Even if I had one explanation of what it was about it would be one thing.

They're both actors. That's why. In film, they try to have the actors be roughly the same height so that they can have greater versatility in shooting. It's not easy doing a zoom out from two actors with fiery dialogue when one is six inches taller than the other. Tall women and short men in Hollyweird. Never gonna change.

Every time I think I can't possibly read about something more insane that Scientology and its leader Miscavige has done, I get proven wrong. Miscavige's wife who has been missing for 6 years, how until a FBI drone flew overhead he kept disfavored Scientology execs locked in a room and forced to sleep on the floor and eat mush for years on end, how he apparently beats the hell out of people who piss him off and they just take it, the crazy just goes on and on.

These aren't rumors, these are things that are corroborated by multiple high-ranking ex-Scientologists.

If something happens to Miscavige (which is unlikely to happen anytime soon), Cruise will probably take over Co$. But the problem is that Cruise actually believes in this sh*t.

Miscavige doesn't. Given his reputation for frequent outbursts and violent anger, it's clear that DM doesn't practice Scientology. But he gets a pass for it because he's DM.

Cruise taking control of CoS might be the best thing to happen to Scientology. I think Cruise is ultimately a good guy that's been brainwashed by a cult. Miscavige is not a good guy. Hubbard was not a good guy. I think Cruise can bring a sense of heart to Scientology. Make it less evil. Cruise is not himself malicious. He just believes wholeheartedly in Scientology. But with people like Miscavige manipulating him, nothing good will come of it.

When DM's gone, Cruise will either become the new head or bolt completely. Right now, though, DM's got him by the balls...and he's not letting go.

However, Cruise would have to be completely blind not to see the evil going on around him. He gets gifts all the time, including slave labor that worked to remodel his airplane hanger if I recall correctly. How can he not know how the people are treated? He most likely condones everything because of the need to "clear the planet."

I could've sworn I remember hearing that he had a major freak out when he initially heard exactly what Scientologists actually believe (Xenu and thetans and all that) and the CoS had to pay him big bucks to keep him as their #1 spokesman. I heard something similar. That Tom Cruise had distanced himself from CoS upon learning about Xenu, but when he divorced Nicole, he needed something to fill the void and went full retard back into Scientology.

I'm not sure how true that is... I've heard the same thing. But it's probably of a dubious source. It's not surprising, though, considering OT III.

(I think David is a victim in all this, too, given how farked up sea org is and how they fark up kids like David and Shelly's heads, but he has no right presiding over killings and imprisonments. I think David Miscavige is the Jerry Sandusky here. Victims becoming victimizers.)

I'd vote for bolt. Him and Miscavige have a 'special' relationship, even if it wasn't sexual. If Miscavige is disposed of, what will there in Scientology for Tom? He can barely explain it when asked about it in public. Dude's got some serious issues going down. With this talk of his not really being into it when he was with Nicole..... maybe he was never a true believer, and was only in it because it made him feel special, but if he were treated like everyone else who has to work for it, instead of like a Messiah meant to be The Face of Scientology, he'd drop it instead of being the best Scientologist who ever Scientologisted?
