i thought the revelation that Miscavige's wife is dead and was dumped overboard from a Sea-Org cruise ship, and that Mr. Miscavige had her did in because he was banging new Scientology recruits and his wife found out, and that Tommy helped to subdue and give her an e-meter reading which went off the Thetan charts and decided she was 'beyond rescue', was the 'biggest nightmare'.

One big huge spotlight on the "church" and it is sorely needed. If you become a tax-exempt organization (they did it through extortion and burglary) then you need to be more transparent. I'm also looking at you Catholic Church.

As always, please see Operation Clambake for more information on the "church".

I agree with that. The only reason why they're a religion and farking Tony Robbins isn't is because they had a good legal team. So the government should be allowed to set a few ground rules like make your "bible" freely available and stop being a farking cult that shelters your followers from the rest of society.

The more I shamelessly follow this story, the more i notice that the body posture of Katie has recently showed complete aversion to Tom. Like in this article, she's "holding" his hand (ok, more likely he's got a death grip on her) but she's physically leaning away from him, while also looking at a phone. What I just now noticed in the same picture, is that Suri has a similar posture. It's like a bubble of batshiat crazy is literally pushing them away from him.

Fun fact: Battlefield Earth was actually written by post-Scientology Hubbard while he was in hiding (from various threats that may or may not have been imaginary). Which is probably why its reception was lukewarm at best despite it actually being pretty well-done for mid '80s science fiction.

//Hubbard's high point as a writer: 1930 - 1945 or so. BE: 1986. What happened between can be summed up as "borderline case of Schizophrenia causes well-regarded writer to alienate literally every single person in the literary community". More tragedy than comedy in his career, frankly.

Does David Miscavige actually believe in his religion, or is he aware that it's a scam, and he just leads it for evil personal gain?

Either way, he's an excellent replacement for Lafayette Hubbard. Sad, really, that this cult survives after the loss of its charismatic leader.

Not that I buy into it, but it looks like it's one mans (DM's) show and without him it'll become the joke it really is.

Considering it's still thriving after the last CEO (who they consider god) died, I don't see why Miscavige's end would mean the end of the CoS. Hell Miscavige's actions have caused a ton of people to leave and denounce the church, so if anything he's doing more damage to it while alive than if he died.

It's better to keep a fool at the top and let it crumble because of him than have his successor be successful.

I thought their biggest nightmare was that everyone outside the cult would get together and arrange a specific date and time when we would all find a Scientologist and just point and laugh and laugh and laugh and then laugh some more.

Oh I'm sure he knows he's bilking the sh*t out of gullible people. There's various clips of Jason Beghe (actor and ex-$cientologist) around on Youtube talking about his dealings with him...apparently many of the "courses" you have to take (and of course pay for) are constantly being re-worked while at the present time always being sold as "the correct, complete" version of said course, and yet when invariably the "updated" version of a particular course comes out, you're told to pay yet again to take an updated version of something you already paid thousands of dollars for when literally only very minor tweaks are the difference between them.

The book "Blown for Good" by Marc Headley goes into just about everything Scientology doesn't want you to know. But it's mostly about how insanely cruel David Miscavige is. I think the book is only $8 on amazon for the print and the kindle version. I read it not too log ago, and I thought it was a great story. Couldn't pit it down and finished it in two days.

It has been asserted by those in the know that Cruise is the second or third highest ranking member of the church. If Miscavige goes down there's a good chance Cruise will be running the whole thing, and as we know from his films, he likes running.

See, for me, the Cruise hate has always been kinda on the backburner: I never got what my girlfriends saw in him. I remember having to spend Friday nights seeing Risky Business just because I got outvoted on which movie we'd see. Ugh!

It went to full-scale loathing once he went on his anti-psychology/drug rant. How farking DARE he speak as an 'expert' on post-partum depression. Seriously just sent me into a vortex of hate for him, and while I fully realize that my disdain for this little mutant man doesn't even register the most microscopic of blips in the universe's 'Top Bajillion concerns for the day' chart...I won't pay to see his movies. If I am outnumbered on my group's movie nights, If he is in it, I buy a ticket to another movie, and roll my eyes at his laughable attempts at emoting. (I've read that his contracts all contain payment clauses of a percentage of box office, and I'll be damned if I give that weaselly little worm one dime towards spouting more of his anti-psychology herp-a-derp.)

It also doesn't help him that I will NEVER, EVER get my life back that was lost sitting through Eyes Wide Shut.
