NewportBarGuy: WorldCitizen: What gets me is that even states like Maine vote for idiots like this. Alabama or Mississippi? Sure. What's with places like Wisconsin and Maine going for this shiat though?

Have you ever been to Maine? It's basically the Alabama of the North. I mean, I love some Mainers, but their state is pretty f*cked up as far as politics goes.

Give us a little credit. 62% of us didn't vote for him.

Don't blame this Maine-iac. I voted Cutler and convinced the wife to do the same. I saw LePage for what he is back when he was mayor of Waterville. I got a chuckle when he said he was qualified to run for gov because just look at the great job he did running Mardens. Anyone that's ever been into a Mardens can tell you that sure, you can get great bargains, but the place is a pigsty. The people working there act like they hate you. I'm just glad this idiot is showing his true colors and will be out on his ass next election.

Why the fark did we elect him to begin with?

LePage is the WORST kind of businessman-turned-politician - a man who tries to run his government like a CEO. That means he thinks the legislature are his employees and the citizens are his customers.

Weird thing is, whenever he shuts his mouth, his approval ratings go up. Not drastically, of course, but enough that the stupid stuff he says sort of fades in people's memories. Then he says something stupid again and they go back into the ditch. The Republican party is having a hell of a time convincing him to keep his damned mouth shut long enough to actually advance their agenda before...well, before this November, actually, when many of them will probably wind up unemployed because of him.

Johnny Swank: Publikwerks: Johnny Swank: Wait, it this the part where we're supposed to feel some sort of pity for Mainers electing a known teabagger and being *SHOCKED* that he acts like a retarded GOP spidermonkey? Cause, you know, fark Mainers. You elected him, so deal with the consequences. Maybe next time you'll take your elections seriously

See also: Wisconsin, Ohio, etc.

To be fair, he won with 38% of the vote in a three way race. Cutler(the independent) had 37% of the vote. The democrats f-ed it up by putting a super liberal up who could only pull 19%, and so LePage won.

And? It's not my fault that Mainers were either too stupid or lazy to do their homework and elected this dipshiat teabagger. They had options, but choose not to take them. Enjoy the fruits of your vote. Next time take your elections seriously.

You, sir, can go fark yourself.

We do take elections seriously. Hell, Maine is one of the rare few states where Independents have a greater chance of winning an election.

Just one of those things. I mean, who in their right mind would actually think that one could win a governor election with 38% of the votes?

Your Blog Sucks: I'm glad one other person happened to mention that LePage was only elected with 38.1 percent of the vote. If the Maine Democratic Party had given up fighting so hard to gain votes for their candidate by swearing that the Independent candidate didn't have a chance and couldn't possibly win, there's no way LePage would have won. Eliot Cutler lost by less than 7,500 votes (36.7%), and many of the people who voted for Libby Mitchell (19%) out of "third party fear" would have voted for Cutler if they hadn't been bullied into voting party line.

/yes, I'm one of those idiots who should have known better

I had democrats come to my door, and say I needed to vote for Libby, and that we had to avoid LePage at all costs.. And I told them flat out "Culter is beating her in the polls. Your candidate needs to bail." They were pretty quiet about that.

Did you miss the part where he won with 38% of the vote? Those who voted for him are among those infantile enough to appreciate his "personality".

It's a systemic problem with the voting. I would have voted for my second-best option if I had known the one I was voting for wasn't going to get the majority. There's actually been some talk about changing the system so it would automatically work that way.

ps69: "[G]et off the couch and get yourself a job." Those words drew a standing ovation from the crowd.

Oh, get a job? Just get a job? Why don't I strap on my job helmet, and squeeze into a job cannon and fire off into job land, where jobs grow on jobbies!

Seriously, I love that those fortunate enough to have work in a tough economy cheer when those less fortunate are chided for being lazy as if there were just jobs available everywhere and the 8% of unemployed Americans are just happier to be poor and unemployed and deserve to be belittled and insulted. Republicanism is just an excuse to be an asshole.

It is AMAZING that in the same stump speech they can berate Obama for not creating jobs AND also the so-called "welfare queens" for not getting that which they JUST SAID does not exist.

MAXIMUM GOP COGNITIVE DISSONANCE!

LePage rode in on the wave of the Tea Party. Maine has always leaned a little right politically. Maine Republicans are usually not like what LePage is.

You also have to consider that the vote was split between the Democratic and the independent candidates. LePage received only 38% of the vote.

I wasn't happy about LePage winning but now that he has, all I want to know is where are the jobs he promised. I'm not counting the ones created by the new fireworks stores because those are offset by the increased need to public services (fire, police, emergency room, rehab services).

So now that you're seen LePage in action, are you still going to vote tea party?

"More taxes if we don't drive Toyota Priuses"

What's that, excise tax thingy they have on fuel I don't remember. Oh yeah!18.4 cents-per-gallon (cpg) plus in Maine state taxes are around 50 (cpg). Clearly this is NAZI Germany. Of course state revenue then pays for your salary governor. How about we take away your salary and wonderful healthcare package? We'll then see how you feel? Your state also gets an increase in Medicaid.

Oh, I know. I follow what's going on in New England. The guy is a shoot from the hip "I'm a real person not a politician" asshole. You need an old-school Mainer to just step up and knock that guy down.

Hell, look at my state, Rhode Island. They have an honest guy who is, honestly, not that bright... But he is a decent man. They sh*t all over him because our economy sucks balls.

Good luck. You'll need it.

Yeah, I thought they then tend to go a little New England right, but I thought that was more like rational Snowe type human beings. *sigh*

LePage is a special kind of moron

Really, since this guy has taken office, he has proved himself to be the most partisan incompetent fool our state has ever had the misfortune to be stuck with for four years.
