My Governor is an idiot.

Why the fark did we elect him to begin with?

2012-07-09 12:38:06 AM
Well gosh, I guess the state of Maine should just stop collecting taxes. Let us know how that goes.

How does he feel about car insurance or his mortgage holder requiring him to have homeowners insurance? Are they the Waffen-SS?

F*cking brain-dead idiot.

Really, since this guy has taken office, he has proved himself to be the most partisan incompetent fool our state has ever had the misfortune to be stuck with for four years.

You know what would make this New Englander happy? Gov. William Cohen. Court the guy. He makes a fortune doing his thing, but he's still a Mainer. Bring him home. Shower him with praise. He'd win without even campaigning. Remember what Republicans used to be? He's all that and a lobster roll.

What gets me is that even states like Maine vote for idiots like this. Alabama or Mississippi? Sure. What's with places like Wisconsin and Maine going for this shiat though?

LePage rode in on the wave of the Tea Party. Maine has always leaned a little right politically. Maine Republicans are usually not like what LePage is.

Have you ever been to Maine? It's basically the Alabama of the North. I mean, I love some Mainers, but their state is pretty f*cked up as far as politics goes.

Oh, I know. I follow what's going on in New England. The guy is a shoot from the hip "I'm a real person not a politician" asshole. You need an old-school Mainer to just step up and knock that guy down.

Hell, look at my state, Rhode Island. They have an honest guy who is, honestly, not that bright... But he is a decent man. They sh*t all over him because our economy sucks balls.

Good luck. You'll need it.

Let me elaborate on this.

Although I think he is a big idiot, it is really hard to not respect him, even if it is begrudgingly. He ran away from home at 11. His first language was French (his lack of English really hurt him). He came from nothing to being a highly successful businessman who has had a bumpy ride in his transition to politics.

An idiot he may be, I doubt I could ever not respect him

"More taxes if we don't drive Toyota Priuses"

What's that, excise tax thingy they have on fuel I don't remember. Oh yeah!18.4 cents-per-gallon (cpg) plus in Maine state taxes are around 50 (cpg). Clearly this is NAZI Germany. Of course state revenue then pays for your salary governor. How about we take away your salary and wonderful healthcare package? We'll then see how you feel? Your state also gets an increase in Medicaid.

Yeah, it's a slippery slope from fuel taxes to mass extermination. One minute you're filling your gas tank and then --BAM-- a shot of cyanide gas to the face based on your level of education, sexuality, ethnicity, or religion.

The best part? When he says these things, a bunch of Republitards nod in understanding.

You also have to consider that the vote was split between the Democratic and the independent candidates. LePage received only 38% of the vote.

I wasn't happy about LePage winning but now that he has, all I want to know is where are the jobs he promised. I'm not counting the ones created by the new fireworks stores because those are offset by the increased need to public services (fire, police, emergency room, rehab services).

So now that you're seen LePage in action, are you still going to vote tea party?

Electing an anti-government TEA party nut as governor is like hiring a child molester to babysit your kids, as the good people of Maine have discovered.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with the GOP? Why are they do fanatically opposed to and/or scared of taxes? Taxes are what we pay to live in a country with a decent standard of living. I just don't understand it, the fanatical anti-tax attitude seems almost un-American, at least to me. These guys are farking crazy.

"[G]et off the couch and get yourself a job." Those words drew a standing ovation from the crowd.

Oh, get a job? Just get a job? Why don't I strap on my job helmet, and squeeze into a job cannon and fire off into job land, where jobs grow on jobbies!

Seriously, I love that those fortunate enough to have work in a tough economy cheer when those less fortunate are chided for being lazy as if there were just jobs available everywhere and the 8% of unemployed Americans are just happier to be poor and unemployed and deserve to be belittled and insulted. Republicanism is just an excuse to be an asshole.

Taxation by inquisition, spying, being tried in their court (where you are presumed guilty), being forced to testify against yourself (in advance), illegal liens, illegal garnishments and seizures, ridiculous fees and penalties, police powers... yep - sounds like the gestapo to me.

Couple that with the fact that only 50% of the public is forced to pay it (i.e. the modern day jews of Germany) and hell YES it's the f*cking new gestapo.

I would hope some indie film is being made right now with a literal modernized allegory of Christ trying to spread his message of love, respect and tolerance to the masses. I guess one of the disciples following him around is a beleaguered IRS agent. Mary would be a feminist in lieu of a hooker though and Judas would be unsuccessfully trying to get his non-profit off the ground. Also sprinkle in one or two homosexuals in the group.

Did you miss the part where he won with 38% of the vote? Those who voted for him are among those infantile enough to appreciate his "personality".

It's a systemic problem with the voting. I would have voted for my second-best option if I had known the one I was voting for wasn't going to get the majority. There's actually been some talk about changing the system so it would automatically work that way.

I can only speak for WI. Tom Barrett was probably the worst candidate available, and that's who ran against Walker during the recall, so many of the people that were against Walker didn't show up because they didn't see Barrett as a worthwhile alternative. Also, there are a lot of damned morons in this state. People are largely fooled by propaganda, and divide and conquer has been shown to work for millenia.

I'm glad one other person happened to mention that LePage was only elected with 38.1 percent of the vote. If the Maine Democratic Party had given up fighting so hard to gain votes for their candidate by swearing that the Independent candidate didn't have a chance and couldn't possibly win, there's no way LePage would have won. Eliot Cutler lost by less than 7,500 votes (36.7%), and many of the people who voted for Libby Mitchell (19%) out of "third party fear" would have voted for Cutler if they hadn't been bullied into voting party line.

/yes, I'm one of those idiots who should have known better

We do take elections seriously. Hell, Maine is one of the rare few states where Independents have a greater chance of winning an election.

This guy is gonna farking destroy us

Why does any of this surprise you? I saw bits and pieces of the governor's campaign here. I could have easily called similar bits of stupidity from this guy. You could have seen this coming from a mile away.

I was blinded by his character. Not everyone goes from living on the streets for a few years to being a Governor

Dude, this was easy to see coming.
