Weren't there 2 or 3 "unofficial" stores selling counterfeit Apple products and the Chinese government did nothing until Apple made a fuss. A few years ago IIRC. China has laws protecting copyrights. they just don't enforce them that much.

Yup. Gee, I wonder why on earth Apple put the brakes on releasing more product over there. It's not as though they derive most of their market share from easily copied logos and packaging, and rely on western style rule of law to prevent counterfeiting.

So, one store for every 216 million people - that still means there's like 450 stores, right?

China is poor as fark. The common man is more worried about who is going to take care of them in their old age than where they'll be able to pick up the newest iWhatever.

What's your point? Population increase in the USA has a lot to do with the Mexicans that come over in droves and then have a boatload of children.

Some nutbag white trash having 8 kids is irrelevant in the big scheme of things.

Not to mention that USA has 313 million people. China has 1,347...

China has more than 500,000 millionaires (about 5% of the world's total), so while there's lots of poor people in China, there's also lots of rich people. Add in that showing off your wealth is a big part of Chinese culture, it should be a huge market for status-symbol phones like iphones. Apple is worried about copyright theft, otherwise there'll be much more stores.

Yeah, but these people build the Apple products, so it's not like they have enough money to buy them. Free trade FTW!
