I think that if the news flash icon is going to be used, it should actually be a news flash. I saw this on the news this morning.

2001-11-15 05:09:22 PM
Of course the taliban did it, like for god's sake.

The Taliban does all and knows all.

</sarcasm>

Casey Jones better watch your speed

Looks like it's not safe to travel anywhere. The wrath of Allah, indeed.

2001-11-15 05:12:05 PM
i bet it was a drunk midgit....

2001-11-15 05:16:22 PM
Yes, let's lighten the tragedy of these people's deaths by making it into some stupid joke about the Taliban. I'm sorry, but that just wasn't funny.

2001-11-15 05:17:46 PM
wow dude...chill...i mean we know its sad and all but dude...comic relief....but i see where your coming from...

From Quadraton's bio:

"I'm sure that I could think of something intelligent to say here, but then that just wouldn't be me."

Nuff said.

2001-11-15 05:26:04 PM
I think all accidents in American history should be retroactively assigned to the Taliban. Wouldn't that be fun?

Huzzah!

You can't ride on a firey train, and not expect a firey crash. Ride on a safe train, and have a safe crash.

Fear&Loathing: 1996: Taliban re-elects Clinton.

2001-11-15 05:31:23 PM
DAMN THEM! DAMN THEM ALL TO HELL!!!

2001-11-15 06:14:18 PM
But what does this have to do with the Taliban?

Nothing? Pfft, good luck seeing this anywhere except your local news paper...

2001-11-15 06:42:13 PM
Taliban!?!
No one mentions the fact that it was a Canadian owned track the trains derailed from. I am getting more suspicious of Canada all the time... Canaban? Talada? Hmmmmmmm.

2001-11-15 07:19:16 PM
Quadraton: my take on the title was that someone wanted to make it clear that this wasn't a terrorist attack, given that so many people are paranoid about every accident that happens these days. Maybe it was intended to be funny, but I didn't read it that way.

2001-11-15 07:19:41 PM
Yeah. I'm from Canaban, eh?

2001-11-15 07:43:11 PM
Whelp, I guess that means we can't ride trains anymore! They're just too unsafe! And those planes, too, eith their engines or tails just falling off the plane!

Of course, we don't see the newsflashes about the hundred or so people that die each day from car accidents.

2001-11-15 07:49:09 PM
...Thus officially ends all my travel plans that don't involve me driving my own vehicle to my destination. Yes, yes, I know that statistically cars are more dangerous than planes, trains, and the occasional rented pack mule - but I still feel better if I'm driving the damn machine. This is gonna add on weeks to my Cancun itinerary.

2001-11-15 08:18:22 PM
May god help us all if them frieght trains were carrying beer.

Detroit Train Crash Leaves 2 Dead, doo dah, d--oh for the love of God, that's just disgusting. I feel ashamed.

...doo dah.

Two dead in Detroit? Well, that's a start.

2001-11-15 08:50:26 PM
<Pepperjack> I toss salad.

That city sucks. Sorry you live there Pseudonym. The only thing it had going for it was the Red Wings, who currently suck balls.
Remember when they won the Cup for the first time in 50 years? I thought the curse had lifted. Within a week the limo accident happened.
The attitude of the Michagassholes doesn't help, as you so aptly just proved.

I hate Detroit, with a passion. If it works for you, fine.

It is a shame those people died. It's a shame when anyone dies a death that could have been prevented. Taliban and Al Queda excluded, of course.

^^^Colorado fan.

2001-11-15 10:04:48 PM
Usually the team with the best record in a league doesn't "suck balls".

2001-11-15 11:56:11 PM
Usually the team with the best record wins the Cup.

I stand by my assesment. Bowman needs to make room.

PS,Mario ruined me for the Avalanche when he attacked Draper. Darrin schooled him, though.

Wah is the best goalie in the league, I'll give you that.

2001-11-16 01:58:58 AM
Bah, you missed it, the ^^^s are supposed to be pointing to you. What with all the Detriot/Michigan bashing.

Detriot is probably the worst city I've been to, I grew up in one of the burbs of D-town. And I go back to that burb when not in school.

Anyway, Detriot is getting better, pretty slowly though. I go down there for ball games and to see bands (usually at St. Micheals/The Shelter) That area is a vast improvement from a decade ago.

BTW, it was evil Claude, not Super Mario who ran Draper's face along the boards. And its Roy, pronounced Wah, spelled Roy, that damn frog.

The Wings are buying themselves a cup this year.

2001-11-16 02:48:53 AM
ere.so I suppose it's fair to point out that it's Detroit.
McCarty kicked ass,
Even though it's spelled Roy, explain that to mainstream America.]
Thankls

Sweater Girl after reading your bio, I have only one comment - - why the hell did I move back! You speak the truth, show the light, the WAY!

But on the bright side I'll be in the hell hole on the 7th to see the 2002 Stanley Cup champion Red Wings beat up on the Coyotes. So there!

Here are some comments from my Mom who lives a few miles away and heard the tragedy:

"I was outside with the dog when the two trains hit head on. It was an unbelievable crash sound and then car after car banging into the next. After it was over there was just dead silence, when before you could hear the train going down the tracks. I don't think I will forget that for a
while, it was a horrible sound."
