Meth and coke help you hyper focus for Daytona. I'm surprised they're not all on Ritalin.

I was wondering WTF he tested positive for - meth or coke. I had forgotten the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

I also wonder if Ritalin is on the banned substances list, and how hard it would be to claim a medical exemption.

//not entirely serious
///does he have a jet dryer silhouette on his door?

That would be JPM with the silhouette. It's in the middle of a gun sight.

Hey, I thought speed was part of NASCAR's thing.

I do believe that Dinger may have well Mayfielded himself. Yes, I know that the B sample still needs to be tested and that he is temporarily suspended until that test happens....but still....

He still has a LONG checklist of things to do before he goes full Mayfield. He has yet to:
-Sue NASCAR
-Fail 2nd drug test
-Say car owner is farking a developmental driver
-Sue family members
-Get caught with substance he denied using
-Get arrested for theft

There's a whole lot more stuff I'm sure, but those were just off the top of my head.

/but just what is it about the 12/22 car from Penske that makes a driver go full derp?
//Mayfield, Kurt, Wallmindinger
///well yeah Kurt isn't on drugs, but it amplified his arseholiness

All it'll take is the failure of the B sample and he's done. No lawsuit necessary.

His statement afterwards was interesting. (paraphrased) "I've made mistakes and I can't take them back, but I need to inform people that you don't have to drink a lot to be drunk..."

Yeah, because they suspend drivers for being drunk. Nice misdirection, methhead. If they did that there would be maybe five drivers starting every week. Go hit the pipe again.

Perhaps the abused substance was coffee. Its hard enough stay awake watching the Sponsored Squandering Of Gas, it must be even harder for the drivers to succumb to loud boredom.

America needs to get over this NASCAR bullshiat, and get behind WSBK and MotoGP. Maybe someday we'll even get real coverage of the IOMTT, an event that makes even the most hardcore car racers shiat their pants.

NFL player tests positive for drugs, Fark: I hope America is finally over this NFL bullshiat and gets behind Arena League Football and Curling...

"There are drugs for that?! I could be relevant again!"

1) Wallmendinger was a hair-gelled Californian who raced in CART before he ever stumbled into NASCAR. Not exactly the stereotypical NASCAR life story.

2) He has shown substantial improvement in the past two seasons. Before this suspension, it was not unrealistic to see him stealing a win or two this season or next. Maybe performance enhancing drugs are actually a thing in NASCAR?

3) Tim Richmond was the most notorious, but do you really think half of NASCAR's legends weren't partying it up in the 70s and 80s, especially with the reputations certain tracks had for being giant crazy parties? NASCAR has bought in to its own family friendly, conservative image.

4) Probably safer. Didn't Shane Hmiel eventually admit to using opiates on race day once or twice?

5) I hope, if it isn't anything that actually shows he put others in danger, NASCAR doesn't immediately throw the book at him in an attempt to cut off a Mayfield repeat.

1: Is there going to be an F1 thread?

2: May 9, 2009 headline: "Sprint Cup driver Jeremy Mayfield suspended indefinitely after failing two drug tests. NASCAR won't say what substance he tested positive for, but considering his record it's safe to say it wasn't speed"

He probably tested positive for arugula

The reason NASCAR went after Richmond so much was because he wasn't the typical NASCAR driver (read: not Southern). Nowadays NASCAR craves somebody like him insofar as he/she is media friendly.

UNC_Samurai: 1: Is there going to be an F1 thread?

I've submitted one for F1 (it's tape delayed, right? If not my headline will make no sense) and one for Indycar in Toronto.
