I honestly can't tell the difference. I guess that's a good thing since it's meant I've been able to switch to the store brand soda without even noticing.

Close but no cigar:

Jeff Gordon is a Pepsi guy. Joonyer and his daddy are (or were in Sr's case) Coke guys.

And everybody knows anything associated with Jeff Gordon is evil and must be destroyed.

Yeah, that article sucks. I was expecting vandalism, outrage, maybe some rednecks bearing expletives. Instead I got that lame ass history lesson. Sure the whole cola wars concept is interesting, but that story was the most boring P.O.S. I've read in a long time.

if it were really nascar style it'd be an identical beverage in cans, with just a different wrapper, and pull tab

The Official Drink of NASCAR should be Mountain Dew Throwback. It's got your average fan right on the can/bottle!

Pepsi has been the official soft drink at Daytona for years....long before Coke did the 400 race

Rolex 24 Hrs is the best Daytona race. It may be a little of the "wine and cheese" auto racing fans, but 24 hrs of nonstop racing is cool. And, the folks drink more than the NASCAR crowd, with better booze

My sister works for Pepsi and she was outraged, OUTRAGED when I put a pic up on my fb of Jeff Gordon with a Dasani bottle in his hand.

No. I don't put random pics of racers up. It was from an event both of us were attending.

But here's the kicker: Pepsi still holds the pouring rights with Daytona Beach, allowing the rival brands to mark its territory all around the speedway.

Pepsi is similar to a dog marking its territory.

I have friend who is a Pepsi exec in Austin and I'm also friends with a Coca Cola sales manager in Houston. They don't know each other, but know of each other. I constantly play one off the other to get free swag and product.

I would have expected there would also be some latent racism involved, in that Pepsi was considered a black person's drink for many years from what I recall.

NASCAR fans are a bunch of rednecks, hollering at a bunch of cars driving in circles for hours, drinking Bud Light and eating Wal Mart cuisine. The Pepsi brand is probably too sophisticated for this crowd.

I wonder how many redneck heads exploded when 'Joonyer' started driving for Gordon and got sponsored by Mountain Dew / Amp. Of course the older fans probably took awhile getting use to a 'Waltrip' riding in a DEI car. Also, the latest outrage I am hearing from Nascar fans is about a woman in Nascar. I think she sucks as a driver, but than so does 'Joonyer'. There would be a lot of changes to Nascar drivers if the fans could handle moving drivers around like other sports trade athletes. Anymore, if I watch a race, I just want to see a good fight for first and it no longer matters to me who it is that wins.

/that is it, I am going to watch the Tigers

My buddy with Pepsi gets tons of tickets, because of Gatorade. I usually snap up the NCAA football tickets when he offers.
