Heh, selenium, what can I say. It's not sulfur, and it's not tellurium; but whoa!

The structure of this cancer cure is exactly like the kind of telemetry tracker NASA uses to identify dead pulsars in deep space.

Ira Kane: Well, as with any new vaccine, there were certain side effects...
Dr. Allison Reed: Could you be more specific?
Ira Kane: Well, it was a wide range of things, it's very technical, I'd hate to waste the court's time...
Dr. Allison Reed: Humor me.
Ira Kane: Some debilitating stomach cramps... severe diarrhea... memory loss.
Dr. Allison Reed: Go on. Any more symptoms?
Ira Kane: [Harry is looking mortified and shocked at the defense table] Partial facial paralysis, temporary blindness, drooling, bleeding gums, erectile dysfunction, uncontrollable flatulence. I think that's it.
Dr. Allison Reed: One more question. Do you recall what the soldiers called this illness?
Ira Kane: Yeah, they called it "The Kane Madness."

Descartes is having the last laugh, isn't he?

Since time, mass, and energy have been found to be interrelated, these sorts of stories are naturally to to be found on the increase.

All of it is hooey, though, until a serious researcher finds evidence that there's a changeable physical phenomenon outside our current understanding.

The small particles are generated when certain selenium-containing dyes are exposed to light, and this small size appears to be essential for the anti-cancer effect.

Selenium nanoparticles produced by photoreduction using the dye as a sensitiser. I did my Masters thesis on a similar process for silver.

When selenium is split-off from the dye molecules,

That doesn't require hypenation. This is not a hypen situation. Why would you do that?

However, the dyes used in these experiments are expensive, and developing a more cost-effective alternative will be necessary to develop this technology into an anti-cancer drug suitable for clinical use.

Call Ciba Specialty Chemicals. They'll send you a bucket of Irgacure. Call Strem. Ask for the cheapest water-soluble organoselenium compound they have (hold your nose). You'll need a lamp and some shampoo as well (no, not Head and Shoulders).

So what? We know of lots of things that will kill cancer. Bleach for example. Problem is the "cure" would kill the patient as well.

Excellent reference.

So can these things actually absorb frequencies which can penetrate tissues,

All the photochemistry takes place during synthesis. Once the nanoparticles are generated, they stick them to a protein and pump them into the tumor...or so I gather from the article. Like every other science story on the Intarwebs, it's annoyingly light on details.
