how do you get arrested on a charge of "resisting arrest"?

/i guess it was really REWB...

Time to adjust keepers.

2012-07-07 06:23:13 PM
Off duty police are the worst kind of police.

At least you know with uniformed cops you have to listen to them and can't touch. These plainsclothes douches interject themselves in a situation and provoke people without identifying themselves. If some random guy is getting in your face and barking orders at you then they need to get shoved back. This isn't Point Break, AP wasn't robbing a bank.

Everybody who has Peterson in a keeper league offered to post bail.

No dude....

In most states, if you assault a security-type person, it is a felony. That includes off-duty LEO working as security.

When someone as athletic as Adrian Peterson is pushing on you....you are going to use more force, and get more backup, to take him down.

if he was working as security he would be wearing a uniform and identified as such. Being a cop doesn't give you license to be a shiatbag cop in your off duty gig as a bouncer for under the table coke.

Not that it's that important, but I seriously doubt that most states have a statute making it a felony to shove a "security-type person".

Is this a legal term?

Let's predict the date these charges will be dropped. I'm going with August 24.

Also, how pissed are the Vikings brass that some roid-chomping cop jumped on their best player who is recovering from ACL reconstruction?

It is unfortunate hop BS situations like this get escalated.

If the NFL was smart, they should open a string of private player clubs in NFL cities, and give these young, rich men a safe place to socialize.

What's an ass cop? I'm assuming this is what you're talking about:

So if I'm an off-duty cop, I can get in random people's faces and start crap, never identify myself, and then the second they touch me, charge them with assaulting an officer?

More or less, especially if the disagreement is with a person of color

TheJoe03: Oh yeah, those LA and NYC cops aren't racist at all.

I LOL'd.

I don't know if it's a term used elsewhere, but here in Los Angeles people get hassled for "driving while black". It's nice that the LAPD has nothing else to do but look out for busted tail lights, but I once had a black co-worker be pulled over 4 times in one year. He just (outwardly) shrugged it off as the usual nonsense black men have to put up with from the LAPD.

Yes. Sad, but there's a segment of the law enforcement population who really are nothing but bullies who like to abuse their power and authority. Sadder still, there's an even larger segment of the law enforcement population who are willing to stand behind them and let them get away with it.

Peterson wanted to get some water before he left, but an officer told Peterson that he needed to leave. Some words apparently were exchanged, but Peterson eventually walked to the exit with one of the club's bouncers.

It's believed that one of the officers then jumped on Peterson's back from behind and tried to take him down. (Key word: "tried.") Other officers then joined the fray and completed the arrest.

If this is all accurate, it sounds like AP was walking away when one of the cops jumped him. Then the others piled on and arrested him for resisting arrest....

Can't wait to see the video of this. If it played out like the article described, then AP might have a nice settlement on his hands.

Yeah, racism and bad cops are a Texas thing,

I dunno about everyone else, but if the staff at a bar ask me to leave, I just leave. I'm not famous, so maybe in that case the rules are different, and I'd like to see the video, but I'm not betting on a running back being smart at closing time.

While I'm sure this situation is all kinds of farked up and misreported and such, the article is quite clear about said off-duty officer identifying himself as a police officer.

That's actually kinda the reason these clubs hire off-duty police to run their security. They can identify themselves as police, maintain police power off-duty, and can police your club.

Does this mean they didn't intentionally pick a fight with Adrian Peterson to say they did it or something along those lines? No. Probably did. But many commenters here have glossed over the fact that the LEO identified themselves as LEO.

If you´re ever in Houston, well, you better do the right;

One of the, possibly, dozens of good cops would have used their words to diffuse the situation.

As a Packer fan I would love for Peterson not to play against the Packers but it sounds like the cops farked him over. If the update is correct it sounds like Peterson was the one that should be pressing charges for assault.

I must have read a different article, because this one is in no way clear as to whether or not said off-duty officer identified himself as a police officer. Here's the entire article the headline lnks to:

Adrian Peterson, the running back for the Minnesota Vikings was arrested last night in Houston. Judging by the scant details tweeted by Jerome Solomon of the Houston Chronicle, it had something to do with a search. [Update: Peterson allegedly shoved an off-duty police officer. More information at the bottom of the post.]

/hardly worth calling an article, more like a note.

/csb time.

Many many years ago some (white suburban) friends and I were leaving a club. As we approached the door one of my party said "this place sucks donkey di*ks". Instead of letting us continue to walk out the door, some overzealous bouncer jumped on my friends back. Said overzealous bouncer was an off duty Cleveland cop. My friend was charged with resisting or some nonsense. Fark the police.

Both of these clowns need to take a class on how to be courteous to folks in public. If you go out in public with the idea of avoiding confrontation it's amazing how peaceful your life can be. Many times I've encountered a rude, confrontational person and killed their anger with kindness. It works, give it a try. No sympathy here for either of these bozos.
