Now there's a shocker.

2012-07-07 05:51:45 PM
I'm only surprised he found enough time away from promoting himself to promote anything else.

And still funnier than Adam Carolla.

Seriously why do people take this guy seriously? Why did they EVER take this guy seriously? He started out doing wacky late night sex talk shows on radio stations that had a target age demographics of 12-15. He for years gave audio fap material for kids.

This is the same clown that is so anti-weed, right? Stuff like this is why I don't trust doctors completely. Some of the biggest drug pushers in this nation.

Anyone with a few brain cells working knows the guy is the biggest fraud alive.. He's awful and a hack.

And Mr. Drew Curtis is a bigtime shill for Heineken. Definitely a Drew problem.

I'd still take his advice over Dan Savage.

Rage?

If anybody thinks that talking heads take their vocal diarrhea seriously, here's your wake up call. Everyone from Rush Limbaugh to Dr. Laura take swill for product promotion. All their show content is whipped up by a series of writers and brain trusts. Everybody gets a cut of the action. It's modern-day payola without the middleman (the artist.)

nice reporting there....the Glaxo fine was $3 Billion

however, looking at the rest of the page, I see that the four year old boy who was killed by a gravestone, was killed in a cemetery...this is a great relief, as I was afraid that the gravestone had followed him home and killed him there.

Can you blame the guy for wanting a taste of the good life after dealing with so many Hollywood douchebags?

I'm getting a kick out of this thread because I was just given a prescription for wellbutrin a month ago (not for obesity). I've probably lost something like 5-10 lbs, mostly because I now have terrible migraines and everything makes me want to vomit. The saddest part is that I now have to limit my internet time because it's causing too much eye strain.

Antidepressants to improve intimacy? What about "certain sexual side effects"?

Great. Now I have a mental image of res_nihil mounting Dan Savage while Dr. Drew shouts encouragement from the sidelines.

All of these celebrity talk show hosts are nothing but paid shills for whoever happens to be sponsoring them. It's not just the commercials either, when you hear one of them mention anything by name, you can bet good money that they are paid to do so.

I took Wellbutrin for a bit, but it did nothing for my depression. With your symptoms, I'd get off it as soon as possible

That's kind of irresponsable advice. You never want to abruptly stop taking any antipsychotic or antidepressant.

This. Just talk to your doctor. Tell him or her your side effects and they might reduce or increase dosages or change to a different medication. If one dosage or med doesn't work, try another. But contact your doctor first.

The funny thing is that Glaxo was fined for marketing off label use. The reason the govt was so pissed is that they had to pay for so many of those scripts. The off label use of wellbutrin cor sexual problems works in many cases. They just aren't allowed to say so. With he government getting further into our medical care, they're going to make it much harder for new drugs and uses to be approved. This will end up slowing down the progress of medicine in real ways. Overall, people will get more care and chaper care, but there definitely is a trade-off to having the people paying for the care write the rules. This is just round one.

/prescribes drugs off-label all the time
//would you want an insurance company deciding what drugs you can get? Well, the us govt is the worlds biggest insurance company.

Dr. Drew is an arrogant ass. I remember watching his show on MTV many years ago when a guy called in with a problem relating to his "manhood" that was the exact same problem I was having at the time. Dr. Drew basically told the caller he was full of shiat and that there was no such condition and no one would ever have that problem. 20 years later on my first visit to a urologist the doctor was like "yes, that's very common, you should have seen a doctor about it 20 years ago".

Pretty much this. Granted, Drew was shilling for a medical company which is arguably worse, but this isn't much different than Glen Beck pitching scam gold investments, Rush Limbaugh telling you to install Malware to "fix" your computer, or Dr. Laura telling you to shell out hundreds of dollars for phony dating sites that are mostly sausage fests.

Dr Drew is a saint. The man saved my life, works his ass off, and has unimpeachable moral fiber. I'll listen to the cynic that's done 1/10000th as much good as Dr Drew, but that excludes all you assholes. 8)

My doctor put me on the stuff years ago for it's "other benefits" (yes, I do sound fat). As a run of the mill family doctor he never got bribes or payola, he just got the data that GSK bought. I don't blame him for it. I do blame Wellbutrin for the hospital levels of HBP I suddenly developed as well as some other fun side effects.

But I just know if we get rid of ALL the regulations that corporations will look after our best interests and this kind of stuff won't happen again.

/I know, I know, take it to the Politics tab

Whew, that makes me feel better (the 3 billion dollar fine, that is). I was just about to rage at these slap-on-the-wrist fines that I always see companies get.

He tells women to never have anal sex and that they could never possibly enjoy it. He should be fed scrotum first to rabid badgers. Do you have any idea how long it took me to undo the damage he did to my last girlfriend's mind on this subject?

I plan on talking to the doctor when I see him again in a month. It really hasn't done much for my depression, the only remarkable change is that I'm no longer compelled to blow money on stupid shiat (alcohol, lottery tickets, take-out). Now I can use all that money I saved to pay off my insurance deductible.

/at least the soccer balls have stopped magically spinning.

Just want to say, first off, Dr. Drew is a passionate, passionate man.

These comments make me said. You guys probably didn't grow up on Loveline from the 90's and early 00's. Drew made a difference to a lot of people during very vulnerable and difficult times. I don't know how far he has fallen but i am going to give him a pass. He deserves to get paid and especially if he (as he states) is using his own clinical experiences.

To be fair, Wellbutrin is an absolutely fantastic drug from a provider's perspective.

I've seen it work wonders for all sorts of off-label usages. One of the best things I've used it for was treating this Vietnam Vet with multi-drug resistant depression... I messed around with his meds a bit, and added adjunctive Wellbutrin XR to it, among other things, and my attending signed off on it. When I saw him back 3 weeks later he was like a different person. He was jovial, smiling, joking, and going out and hiking and shooting nature photos, which was one of the things he loved to do, but due to anhedonic depression, had stopped for the past 3 years. Afterwards, he shook my hand and told me I had saved his life.

But yeah, no, big Pharma is evil, and should be b&

/am a resident physician
//ineligible to take pharma handouts even if I really wanted to
///still think Dr. Drew is a jackass - he's an IM doc treating psychiatric patients... and a flagrant narcissist to boot
