So what? they labeled the difficulty level of the parking spaces.

Sure they could have labeled them "easy" and "Hard" but I think we all know that there are more women cannot park then there are men who cannot park.

We even know more women cannot drive then men (as in they don't know what the fark they're doing)

Men however, are more likely to get killed while driving recklessly. So you're less likely to be in an accident with a man driving a car, but more likely to be killed.

fta they took the step of designating wider, well lit, closer to the exit spaces for women which makes sense from a safety standpoint. To ensure a measure of equality they also "recommended" that a few spaces were for men. That they are narrower, angled, and have pillars for added difficulty supposes a bit of generalization on parking prowness but was good natured in it's intent.

This mayor appears to have common sense and a sense of humour, he must be replaced immediately!

Better to have clearly indicated challenging parking spaces as "challenging", and leave it up to drivers to decide what they're up for.

I can't be bothered to be offended, but this mayor sounds like a first-class moron.

Hey now, we are the ones who are sent to prison if we look at/touch a 17 year old girl. When females touch/look at a 17 year old boy, you get probation.

We should keep the parking spots.

So, the mayor was also REQUIRED TO DESIGNATE WOMEN'S PARKING SPOTS.

It's a gender, not a handicap.

Is this like designating a college as "whites only" because it's harder for blacks to get into?

2012-07-07 11:28:48 AM
"Try if you want to"? Make them try it. If they fail, give the car to some guy who can drive. Bicyclists too, make them try. Hell, make everybody do it.

edmo: Is this like designating a college as "whites only" because it's harder for blacks to get into?

Nah, I think it's more like designating a Christian gathering as whites only because you don't have the facilities to accommodate other races.

I'm ok at parking, but there's this chick at work who can back her full-sized dodge ram into the covered parking, between two support beams. She does it really quickly too. None of this turning around and wriggling it into place, just 90 degrees to the right, and straight back. It's impressive. I'll bet she parks better than me.

Oh good grief- if he wanted women to park in these spaces then why didn't he just say so? I'll never understand the male fixation on reverse psychology.

2012-07-07 11:41:43 AM
(off topic-ish but..)
Things I've learned about women:
1. They hit the curb when they park and are prone to flats
2. They will travel any distance at any expense for sex with the person they are into
3. They will rage at any obstacle placed between them and the person they are into (traffic, work, lame-duck SO, etc.)
4. They follow astrology but may not admit it up front

There's one aspect of "parking lots for women" I don't understand. FTA: "... are well lit, closer to the exit and wider."

Well-lit and close to the exit? Check. That's understandable even though it is sexist as it implies that only women can be victims or that there are no males who might be afraid of the dark or crime etcetera etcetera.

But what about "wider"? Do wider parking lots prevent rape, robbery and assault? Are they wider because women are not only afraid of the dark but also suffer from gender-induced claustrophobia? Or are they wider because women are supposed to be bad drivers? If the latter is the case, than there is nothing wrong with advertizing small lots as "manly".

I can watch my wife work a problem for hours. She has the most chaotic, non-linear approach. She hops and skips, stops mid sub-task, starts something else over, tries to do the last part early, and on and on. I dislike working with her on things.

Yet she solves the problem. Moral: different approaches work.

No, women are fatter and need wider spaces to open the doors.

Using feminist logic, this means that if a woman chooses *not* to park in one of these spots, she'll be blamed if any bad things happen to her.

/slut-shaming! slut-shaming!
