The wait staff are really cool - especially the tat'd up girl. The menus are in old record jackets...which is fun...and they have a better menu than the decor would suggest (the tat'd barkeep frowned that I didn't explain I'm a veg, she said they could have done something for me). Was a bit loud - place was full, but not packed. One can tell that someone somewhere had a vision in their head of what a pub should be like, and did a good job of bringing that vision into being there in Oceanside. Oh, and yeah, it was more like the pubs I've been to in England than the "pubs" one tends to find here - could be family friendly, beer and wine that isn't mass produced, has food that isn't just barfood...

there ya go! My review. As you might be able to surmise, I'm not a professional reviewer-person. ;)

Picking a venue is the hardest part.

Also the part that people worry most needlessly about ;) are drinks served? Are there munchies? Is there room for a small group to sit? Parking? Doesn't need to be perfect, just adequate

Increasingly, Los Angeles does. The Metro Rail is actually quite good.
San Diego has none to speak of, though :-/

We have trolleys, we have the Coaster, and North County has the Sprinter. The Sprinter is actually quite nice, running from *WAY* inland all the way to the beach.

As someone who's visited cities like Washinton DC and Paris, I feel the need to laugh at your statement. No offense - I live in the LA area, and am well acquainted with the problems caused by so many cars on the road. Our rail network is still too small to serve the amount of the population it should... blame GM for the streetcar scandal of decades past that dismantled the old Pacific Electric network. At least currently they've been working on extending and constructing more lines, but for now a lot of people without cars still have to take the bus.
