This theft may seem like a tragedy now, but it'll totally be worth it once we deploy the Keystone Kops.

Police in Dearborn say a classic vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of the Henry Ford Museum last week.

Gee, well even at a top speed of 16 miles an hour, it could be just about ANYWHERE in the country by now.

The thieves also stole the new F150 that was carrying the car on a trailer. What's sad is that someone is going to sell it for well less than it's worth.

How does that even happen?

Mind!

It's Detroit.

Most of the population is assholes.

That's why the nice people who gave the Soviets 400,000 trucks for free to defeat the Nazis left.

I went to that museum a year ago. It was nice, but desolate.

Might have been because it was a Wednesday afternoon, but the town itself seemed very empty.

I have to think it would be tough to sell a stolen car that is that rare. Even parting it out seems like it would be difficult.

My assumption is that they were after the truck, and that the Model A is sitting in an alley somewhere.

See, if he'd used a GM to haul it he could have had OnStar shut down the engine.

So, how long before it's on craigslist

2012-07-06 09:39:23 PM
The truck towing it was a 2001 F-250, not a F-150. The truck is worth about $10k. The trailer is probably worth about 6 or 7k, just as a guess. So, yeah, the Model A is worth more than the truck and trailer that they stole.

Sigh. This is why we can't have nice things.

Sadly, that's not even close to being the case. There are plenty of assholes out there with a ton of money who just don't
give a shiat. I'd bet it's heading overseas or to some scumbag hot rodder. (not all hot rod guys are scum, but there are a goodly number)

Id have to say this was not about stealing money, and more about someone wanting to hurt Ford. Nobody would steal that unique of a vehicle from that place just to try to flip it, in my opinion.

I assure you 16 mph is not the top speed. I have rode in one and it cruised fine at 35 mph, but the steering was a handful. Now you get what you deserve.

One night a man broke down on the side of the road with his model A Ford. Well a man in a new cadillac came by and offered a tow. Unknown to the man with the Ford, the man stoled the cadillac. Once strapped up the two were on their way. The caddy got going a little fast and drew the attention of a local cop. Well the man in the caddy wasn't about to stop so he put the pedal down. In the Ford, the other man was having the dickens of a time keeping his car under control. Fearing for his life as the caddy continued to speed up the Ford starting hitting the horn while trying to keep the car on the road. After a mile of pursuit the cop turns off his lights and siren and turn around. The cop drives straight to his headquarters and walks over to his chief and puts his badge and gun on the desk. The chief ask what is he doing. The officer tells him "It isn't the first time I've seen a caddy run 80 - 100 mph, but when I saw a model A try to pass the caddy, I have seen enough."

Yea. I live in the area and the 6pm local news (Detroit's NBC affiliate) said they only wanted the truck. They took the trailer because it was attached and were oblivious to its contents.

You forgot that 2 of the 3 Big 3 filed in 1967-right before the Statute Of Limitations kicked in-against the US Gov't for damages by American bombers to their German subsidiary factories during WW2

Only if they are stupid. I'd pay 9 grand for the engine if it was original (or close) and had a working original carburetor
