Ive lived in Texas almost my entire life and every year at around this time is the time of year I begin looking for real estate and a job in the norhtern California, Oregon, Washington area.

Hot weather can go f*uck itself and here in Texas, the spans of cooler days are getting shorter and shorter, the lakes and rivers are drying up. What I've loved about Texas is slowly going away and being replaced with Sh*itty people.

Even more cranky-making: Watching the Giants get their asses kicked while baking in a crummy stadium that does fark all to mitigate high heat days.

Seriously, saw, like, a dozen people passed out from heat emergencies... no misters or ice water stations, few water fountains (but plenty of $5 bottles of water). But I'm sure there's no reason to plan for high-temp days in *DC*....

The original stuff works too. And yes, this works great. Ladies can apply some beneath their breasts for similar relief. Smells like Listerine to me, but the relief is worth it.

fusillade762: Did you know that more murders are committed at 92 degrees than any other temperature? I read an article once - lower temperatures people are easy-going, over ninety two it's too hot to move, but just ninety two, people get irritable!

Sounds like a good reason to change to the metric system.

When I did hurricane relief after Katrina, there were a LOT of magic powders in the work camp. An informal, unscientific survey, found gold bond original the clear winner 2 to 1 over all other brands.

FTFA: 'Molitor said she suspects that prolonged periods of heat and humidity, as many regions have experienced this summer, may lead to an increase in cases of summer SAD seen by doctors.'

I call 'bullshiate'. SAD is from too little sunlight, not too much.

Same here for my group. Gold bond by the bra lines or anywhere that could chafe. I'd still never seen so many angry, itchy women.

"Swamp Nuts." I've finally found a name for the affliction which has tormented me all these years. I am going to acquire some of this stuff you call "gold bond". I trust it is available in Canada.

At 90 degrees I willingly tell people to avoid contact with me, at 100 degrees I am drunk.

I can't sleep for shiat while basting in my own juices. I also can't sleep if I'm not able to burn off physical energy during the day. Burning energy requires eating. Eating when it's hot out makes me feel like shiat as well. The weather finally broke here. It's 62 right now. Windows open, pants off, cooking.

Bonus: take some with you to work in a small plastic baggie and if you feel, for lack of a better term, not-so-fresh you just go to the bathroom and reapply. If they try busting you for having white powder in a baggie you may even get to sue!

douchebag/hater: I call 'bullshiate'. SAD is from too little sunlight, not too much.

That's "classic" SAD. There is now recognized "reverse" SAD, from too much light/heat in the summer and atypical SAD (spring and fall). I totally have summer SAD. It sucks ass. I have woken up at 5am wishing for a giant missile to blow up the sun. The only way I would have ever joined the armed forces is if they promised in writing never to send me to anywhere hot. If there were a war in Antarctica, that would be fine.

I love the winter. Being cold is awesome, and couple of hours of light a day and I'm good. One of my greatest "summers" was spent in New Zealand where it was overcast. I have to figure out a way to get my work to cover northern hemisphere summers in the southern hemisphere.

Used to get real cranky and irritable during summer. Hot weather, hard to sleep, constantly blindingly bright out. Not one thing to look forward to as you slogged back and forth to work with too little sleep.

Then I got a job at the local school district and I suddenly have "summer vacation" again.

Not enough sleep? Fark it, I'll sleep in.
Hot out? I'm going swimming.
Bright? Pull the shades and watch movies.

/been cured for 2yrs now
//but Big Pharma will never go for it.

I'll have to try it myself. I hate having to peel them off of my leg. Regular powder doesn't seem to do much.

Don't do it! Your nuts will burn with the heat of a thousand suns, when you least expect it, like going through a military check point.
