Some drill sergeant was really impressed with people doing the wave at soccer matches.

Lando Lincoln: Some drill sergeant was really impressed with people doing the wave at soccer matches.

THIS.

Do they even do the wave in Europe at all, though, or is it just an American phenomena at Football games?

At any rate, I see 100,000+ people do this at every UofM home game.

Personally, I was hoping it was a flash mob and they'd start breaking into the Thriller song

Now when you read that comment, I want you to think of Donald Southerland in "The Dirty Dozen" in the scene where Lee Marvin comes around to the back of the truck and says "OK, who wants to be a general?" and they pick Pinkley (Donald Southerland) to be a general and inspect the paratroops so he walks down the line and stops and says to the colonel "They're very pretty, Colonel, but can they fight?"

That's how you should read that comment.

This video, FTW
Any other argument is invalid. Patrick Stewart is narrating.

Neat looking and totally useless, just like the ceremonial crap that all nations make their military folks do. Yeah, lets spend more time making ourselves look good for spectators than actually learning the important stuff...GREAT IDEA!

All the people insulting this have apparently never seen the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. Or anything like it. Or perhaps even a shirt with buttons.

Every military in the world -- ours, everyone's -- does stuff like this. ALL of them. There are no exceptions. And silly as Belarus may be as probably the most politically backwards nation in Europe, they have a very, very long history and heritage, and this is a very impressive display of how proud they are of that. The world might be a nicer place if we could at least try to respect that, and not shiat on other people for doing something interesting.

I have seen military ceremonies and color guard routines. I own several shirts with buttons, suits and even ties that are not clip on. This video is not interesting or impressive to me. The part that loses points with me is they have to turn their heads to see when it is their turn. The routine in Major Payne was more impressive and I think one of 'kids' was military. Those guys got their moment of praise and not one is likely to read what I have wrote. If they did then they can polish it up a bit and try again. The changing of the guards is not done by amatuers, but paid military that train to be that polished everytime they are assigned to perform their duties. Don't think I don't appreciate the effort they put towards honoring the fallen, it is after about the fallen. Not everyone has to be praised for putting on a uniform, it is about what they did in the uniform.

I thought someone was going to fall over, causing everyone else to fall as well. I just lost a buck..... to myself.

I can imagine with line infantry back in the dayee... that this would be a really good psych-out tactic to have such well disciplined and homogenous troops. But now it just looks like a chorus line.

I figured it was Best Korea, guess not. Seems like the kind of thing that would impress the Kims.

You know what else would impress the Kims? Well... other than a 10 liter bottle of cognac? A freekin' intercontinental ballistic missile that didn't fall apart before it left North Korean airspace!

Well... send 'em the first, 'cos they aren't getting the second.

Has anyone ever told the Kims that we already have nuclear weapons more powerful than they could dream of producing themselves.... and ICBMs that can deliver that payload... to an intersection in Pyongyang of our choosing... within the hour...from Kansas?

We should. Maybe drop leaflets or sumpin.

Morons!

I played in a rock and roll band with one of the guys in the that video. Insane chops, of course. Regrettably I couldn't talk the other boys in the band into MARCHING UP AND DOWN THE BAR at gigs.
