The dude is hot. I'm completely straight, but I will begrudgingly admit that is just a skoch better looking than I am.

But just a skoch

But does my wife want to have sex with him?

He may be 1,000,000 times better looking and 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 more rich than me, but at least I don't have the voice of a 6 yr old boy.

Why are we talking about some hack that can't even handle the intense pressure of MLS?

Is this in addition to the suspension for being an epic douche?

Dude, he's old. It would be like Brett Faver...Farf...Fav-ruh going to play in the CFL. Sure, he's Brett Faaarv but he's old. He's just old. He's so....old.

I remember watching that game. Beckham seemed to be in a foul mood most of the game for some reason.

Reason No. 1 soccer is not more accepted:

"David Beckham suspended 1 game for aggressive behaviour"

That guy still plays??

IAmRight: "David Beckham suspended 1 game for aggressive behaviour"

i'm not saying he's the baddest badass that ever badassed, but his conduct in that game was over the line and deserved a suspension. he kicked a ball at a downed player, and the ref was standing right by the player so one could interpret the action as against the ref, and then in the scrum that ensued -- which he escalated -- he literally went eyebrow to eyebrow with an opposing player, and then after that ended, after the game he started more shiat.

rickythepenguin: but his conduct in that game was over the line and deserved a suspension

I obviously read the article - suspended a game for kicking the ball at an injured player (though given that it's soccer, "injured" means anything from "not at all hurt or touched, and writhing around trying to draw a penalty" to "holy sh*t, get the stretcher") sounds way more legit than "suspended for being aggressive!"

/out of curiosity, was the other guy more towards the former or latter?

2012-07-06 03:35:24 PM
it should be noted that Cronin seemed miraculously healed and was on his feet in no time
he deserved a yellow for time wasting

I'm sure he knew it was an incredible long shot he would get selected for that. I'd think it was more likely a "so, Becks, you still bangin' that praying mantis?" comment that set him off.

Dude bounced right to his feet when the ball hit him. No sign of injury. It was a flop worthy of the NBA.

The kick magically heeled the horrific injury as the San Jose player immediately sprang up and was ready to scrap.

That ref sucked big sweaty donkey balls. Two hand balls in the box, AND HE WAS IN LINE OF SIGHT. Guy sucked. And Cronin's a little biatch, always was. That said, Beckham's earned it, mainly for being a surly old man all season long. And if you think bringing in Fat Frank Lampard is going to help our Swiss cheese defense, I want what you're smoking. AEG had it right the last couple of years, let Arena do his thing, and stay out of the way. Show up when a big free agent IN A POSITION WHERE THE TEAM IS THIN (emphasize!) is available. We don't need another goddamn center midfielder. We need a time machine to prevent Omar Gonzales from going to Germany last winter.

i know FIFA lacks the balls (no pun intended) to do something about flopping, but I really hope the NBA walks it like it talks it on flopping. when LeBron James -- 6'10" and 270 lbs -- goes triple axel with a half gainer, degree of difficulty 5.7, after six foot nothing James Harden brushes him with an elbow.....come on man. You're gonna do that to get an edge?

I would love to see the NBA start handing out fines and suspensions for flopping.

Dude's the worst ref in MLS. He screwed up the RSL-SEA game too. Total dumbass. Where do they find these guys?

If they started suspending guys for flopping, Harden would never have been on the court.

You'd get a technical in the NBA for throwing a ball at an opposing player.

it is amazing how much the NBA has changed just in the past decade (thanks, Ron-Ron!)

You watch clips of Iverson in 2001, or John Stockton circa 1997 getting hammered in the paint, or ever Jordan / Barkley and the game was so much more physical then. shiat that was routine then would be a foul now.

ha. i found Rocky III last ngiht and watched a bit. Good lord was Carl Weathers built.

and yeah, the scene when he and Rocky hug it out in the surf, with their nut-hugger shorts, that wasn't gay at all.

That nonsense should have all been defused way before he got involved.

I literally was not aware the United States had a national soccer league. I know we had the U.S. team almost go to the World Cup not that long ago.

Which one is the "good" one?

NSL, MLS, NASL, ASC ....... ?

What the hell? We've been in the last three or four.

*checks Wikipedia*

Right, the last six. Maybe you meant "almost won the World Cup" because of that one time we actually won a knockout game.

Seriously, at least basketball fans and a whole bunch of players and coaches mock floppng and want it out of the game. Seems soccer fans don't mind it and think it's legitimate strategy.

Not in the US, but European and South American fans embrace "selling the foul" heartily. MLS is one of the most brutal leagues in the world, if you can believe that,

I agree with you, Americans just don't like flopping, it's pretty much cheating to us. Gotta love how Americans play soccer compared to the little prissy boys in other continents.

To be fair, that was a hell of a kick. Just the short amount of space between the refs and other player and he hits the diving player perfectly from a good distance.

Quality stuff right there.

I watched that whole game. It was indeed a hell of a kick. And MLS absolutely has a reputation on the international stage as a thug league. If your reigning MVP (that guy from FCD) can get his leg broken on a semi-targeted tackle, you'll get that rep.

Agreed. That was damn impressive. Completely threaded the needle to nail that flopper. Loved it.

I know! I mean, all he did was go into the stands and beat the shiat out of a completely innocent man who was a good foot shorter and about 100 pound lighter than him.

I'm a soccer fan and I don't like it. Although, for the most part, the EPL doesn't have as significant a problem with diving as some of the other leagues and I'm a fan of that. It seems to me that there's more diving in a typical NHL game than a typical EPL game (as long as Didier Drogba isn't playing).

I guess that's one thing the MLS can hang its hat on. They hate diving and I'm ok with that. My oldest son played and refused to go down unless it was legitimate. May have cost his team a few free kicks but you had to respect his game.

The Ron Artest Interactive Fan Experience act was wrong. It should have never gotten to that point though. The officials and security just stood there and let the teams argue forever.

I just can't imagine that going "eyebrow to eyebrow" with David Beckham would be all that intimidating.

Now midgets with knives on the other hand... THAT would be intimidating.
