Occam's Disposable Razor: HoneyDog: Ok, first off, it is quite common that people who have a psychiatric disorder stop taking their meds. They think because they are asymptomatic that they can stop.

Hell, I've read a book by a bipolar woman who is also an MD/PhD who wrote that she sometimes stopped her meds because the mania that followed felt so damn good.

Ah, yes, the maniacal girlfriend can be TONS of fun, so long as:

1) No witnesses (you'd be cleared eventually, but the cops arriving would toss oil on the fire).
2) Sharps and breakables are out of reach.
3) You're physically fit to cope with her.
4) You're emotionally fit to cope with her (in your head keep chanting, "Nothing she says means anything").

Personally, it's the doubt that spoils it for me. She says she's bipolar, but it looks like dope and you're not privy to her psychiatric notes, are you? Maybe a sage word from her therapist would help, but you suspect it would be, "Get out" -- if he were talking, which he ain't. The bastard.

Anyway, it's over now. Lots of fun and excitement and I got away with just a few some scratches and a burnt carpet.

Too Pretty For Prison: I think a pre-nup should be standard without actually having one. The rules are ass-backwards. If you want to give your crap away, you should have to sign something before you get married specifically stating your wishes. Marriage sucks donkey dicks. You're in love, you have a couple of kids, things are great for 8 years then suddenly she finds out her life is meaningless and she needs to find herself...without you. Suddenly, you're watching the last 15 years of your financial planning get ripped in half. Lawyers are experts at egging both parties on to fight for crap that is meaningless. She'll spend $3,000 in legal fees to have the lawyer write up documents over crap you wouldn't argue over anyway like the 1995 Toyota and the basement furniture. Lawyers then teach people that kids make great weapons during a divorce and you can reap huge financial rewards by using them as tokens. The courts love this too, apparently because seemingly most judges automatically assume men make horrible parents and they don't deserve their children more than a few days a month. Then you get to spend the next 3 years battling in court to get custody of your kids. You spend $42,000 in legal fees and you end up with used furniture, half your pension, your kids part time and a bitter hatred of life. Meanwhile, that blood sucking leach of a woman you married conveniently managed to suddenly "find herself" by banging her boss and marrying him (and donating the damn 95 Toyota to charity). I'm not bitter.

Ah, the rare appearance of the Inverse Troll. Where one's writing of a satirical post for fun and profit inadvertently turns into a revealing truth. I salute you sir, and recommend that for your situation living under a bridge is not meant to be a derogatory remark but actual advice to get your child support problems under control.

Because living for free means more money for the kids, see.

HoneyDog: namatad mahuika: would choose to stop his medication on purpose when he was stable, which is hella stupid.

this is so common. this is one of the reasons that teenagers were committing suicide after they stopped taking paxil. (toss in side-effects with sleeping meds and you have a death party)

nope, they like the feeling of crazy.

Yes, there are some that like their mood swings, but most think they are better and can stop.

none of them are suffering from the delusion that taking that drug was just a one month event and they would be fixed forever after that. why would you assume that? they'd have to be going to the worst doctor in the world to come away with that impression.

First off, it's not a delusion that makes them think that. But it is a bonafide fact that a lot think because the are asymptomatic that they can stop their meds. Why do I think that? Oh I don't know, personal experience with people who are bipolar and reading tons of books on it, including a very technical book by the foremost authority on the disorder.
