Damn, that is where I was going. Well, then, the Carlin it is.

Or, you could dim your brights, slow down, and drive like a grown-up.

You're from CT and you've never driven in heavy snow at night? I've been in plenty of storms where even 20mph was a pain in the ass from the thick cloud of large flakes obstructing the view. Something like this, even if it only filtered out the closest flakes would be pretty nice.

In drivers ed, we were taught to dim our brights, slow down, and drive like grown-ups. That's worked fine for me for many years, and it should work for anyone capable of fulfilling those three actions. Which I concede isn't everyone.

I don't deny that these magic headlamps may improve visibility, and I certainly welcome anything that may improve safety. But I've noted that by far the single most dangerous thing in driving is drivers. My point isn't that these are useless, but that anyone who thinks they're essential may have unsafe habits already, and anyone who thinks they're going to solve the problem is almost certainly mistaken: the biggest problem, as it is most of the time, is people. And technology alone can't fix that.

I read it, and the first thought that came to my mind was "ohh great, more expensive shiat to break".

// next up, headlights bright enough to evaporate raindrops.

I could go for those. Bet they'd burn out the sensors in cops' LIDAR guns...
