You can't genetically change anyone who's already been born.
I doubt anyone above the trailer trash level will be genetically altering their baby daughters for bigger boobies.

This is purely for the benefit of future generations. They'll thank us someday

What? Any woman who felt like she need surgery is going to try to save their daughter from the same fate. And last time I checked breast augmentation wasn't a trailer park only activity.
And the really fun part will be when every woman is walking about with at least a B cup, they will be the "new" flat chested. Never underestimate the need for one up manship

WhippingBoy: A new Golden Age is about to dawn...

Only to the extent that expecting moms and dads are willing to go into the clinic and say, "yeah, since you're going in there anyway to correct her genetic predisposition to near-sightedness and high blood pressure, why don't you give her a nice set of hooters while you're at it."

The researchers were only able to isolate the gene upon wiring a 1985 Tandy XL to a generic Barbie doll, all while the researchers wore brassieres on their heads.

You might want to read up on what a retrovirus does.

Big deal. Get back to me when they find the gene responsible for breast number.

I would like 4 very nice sized ones please. I do a great impersonation of twin outboard Chryslers.

The actual study was done by 23andme, a commercial testing company that collects a ton of survey data. This lets them retroactively analyse for correlations. These people discovered the gene for Unibrow because it was never really worth running a proper study. Similar breast size, it was never a funded study, but they could just go data-mining.

This study used about 16,000 white people's SNP markers and they found seven markers surrounding six genes. That's not "pinpointing" anything. These genes are known to be related to hormonal secretion, and gland development, which makes sense as the mammaries are big hormonal glands.

Finding SNPs means we don't yet know how it works, but at least we know where to look. Selections based on chromosomal regions may one day be possible, to ensure your children get the correct grandparent's gene (otherwise a random one in four). It also lets us look for correlated effects. There should be nearby genes that influence other traits and are inherited together.

Interesting numerical method:
"Bra size was coded from 0 to 9, corresponding to the categories: Smaller than AAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, DD,
DDD, and Larger than DDD, respectively. Mean size was 4.99 (just under a "C" cup) and the standard deviation
was 1.45."

Once this goes commercial, folks, I'd wait a decade or two before advising anyone you care about into this "natural" augmentation. There are all sorts of revolutionary genetic and stem cell trials out there that have produced amazing results. Amazing results, that is, and cancer.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: Thanks mom and dad!!

I would certainly believe that those were purchased by mom and dad. Parenting Fail.
