I really doubt his record of promising to suck off Benjamin Netanyahu and the entire Knesset is going to go overly well with the rest of the Middle East.

he does know that people in other countries can't vote for him, right?

The guy is probably very popular in China and India, where is he most definitely a job creator.

He won't draw half the crowds Obama did and he'll antagonize his base if he visits any socialist countries. Good luck with that, Mitt.

//Shouldn't he be reworking his failing campaign?

ManateeGag: he does know that people in other countries can't vote for him, right?

Because of that recent Supreme Court ruling, that is no longer completely true. They can vote with their money.

Mitt Romney's campaign is considering a major foreign policy offensive

Well, this should be good for a laugh. Not a hearty guffaw a la "I can see Russia from my house!" but at least a chuckle or two.

You don't want a Mexican as president, do you? (oh, and there's that cult-thing, too.)

The guy described lemonade as "Lemon. Wet. Good.". Frankly, I'm not ruling ANY level of hilarity out at this point.

I'm anxious for him to visit Israel, and let all those sinful Jews know that their relatives who died in the Holocaust are now safe in heaven thanks to him and his cult of Jesuit-embarassing freaks.

2012-07-06 12:20:22 AM
Now, this isn't crazy: Obama did this in 2008. The difference is other countries liked him. Mitt will shelter himself into meetings with conservative bigwigs in their countries. Obama did that, but also gave stirring speeches to crowds of thousands. Who in Germany or Poland is gonna come out to a guy who's losing by 10 points in July?

Yeah, because shifting the campaign conversation to from the economy to foreign policy will have Obama quaking in his boots.

Does he still have the "Etch-a-Sketch" / "Obamacare is not a tax" guy running his campaign?

2012-07-06 12:37:22 AM
The party needs its nominee to lay out a post-Bush, post-Obama foreign policy. [John] McCain's vision was essentially Bush with less forethought.

So obviously we'll get something different since most of Romney's foreign policy team were from the Bush Administration.

Yes, flashing the ROM can often solve certain persistent compatibility issues.

Actually, what I think that most people seem to point out his lack of empathy, his Quantum Political Superposition, his record of blowing up budgets with lack of quality controls, his past business experience with outsourcing and coring out of companies that leaves said businesses sad shells and which left many folks unemployed soon after, and his record in the executive chair that left Massachusetts in a bind, while now being unable to even discuss his signing of the blueprint for the ACA which certainly included that pesky mandate that folks have been shoehorning into every attempt to reform health care since the NeoCon Revolution, and which Romney himself signed into law in Massachusetts. Well, that and his cries as a hawk for the Vietnam war, which he then ducked with deferments so that he could go to France and play missionary to the dirty Papists, and support post-mortem conversions.

THOSE things people are usually critical of. Because they're things that he's actually done. Which is what you're supposed to bring up, when considering a candidate. You know, his actual record. And all those pesky things that he's said for the last five years of campaigning, which the last time around he lost the nomination to the guy who pretty much handed the White House to Obama. He lost to that guy, which says how much a real winner he is...

Or did you not want to discuss that?

It's clear, both historically and common sensically. Suspending your campaign the summer before an election is a guaranteed bump.

The Romney campaign is in complete shambles at this point. They can't get the party to back them on the Obamacare front, so he's running overseas to pretend he has some importance to other countries. Who the fark is going to meet with someone who isn't even running a good campaign against an important incumbent? Who thinks it's a good idea to deal with a tough campaign fight by leaving the country? It's almost as insane as McCain suspending his campaign to fix the economy.

The Republican lockstep is failing badly, and it points to the Republicans counting on four more years of Obama. At this point they must be madly finding ways to shore up their Congressional leads because this sad way of installing Mitt as the nominee has completely sucked the air out of the room, and Republicans are now trying to find ways not to be attached to this pathetic nightmare of a candidate.

Rupert Murdoch was half right when he said Romney needed to cut loose old friends and hire some 'pros.' Romney needed some professionals from the very beginning, but they wouldn't have worked anyway. Obama campaigns incredibly well, and the Republicans chose badly when they decided Romney was going to be their candidate. The next four years are going to be interesting when the Republicans have to deal with a president that no longer has to be elected, nor has to really take any Republican bullshiat laying down. Obama has been generous for four years to Republican madness. That will come back to haunt the Republicans when they deal with an Obama they cannot really defeat.

Israel = street cred for fundamentalist voters.

In this case, it's pandering, like Dukakis in the tank.

True, as with your whole post.

What I expect they will do is get some Veep onboard that will excite the base and work towards more gains in the house and senate. They need to do something at this point to simply get Republicans eager to vote. They will keep chipping away from the outside. There will be even worse gridlock in 2012-2016, but with a president who doesn't have to be as much of an "across-the-aisle" guy, we may see a little more push on issues.

I think they're afraid of another Palin. The Republicans started making a lot of bad moves at the turn of the century, and Palin is one that has bit them in the ass a great deal. I think Romney isn't going for a teabagger-type that could cause another McCain situation, but someone who is just there. I don't think the Republicans will give any more concessions to the Base. The Base simply won't vote for Obama, and the last thing the Republicans really want is more of their retarded base showcasing their ignorance. It's time for them to reclaim lost ground, and throwing a Palin out there to suck up all the air simply won't cut it.

Plus at this point, Romney is an embarrassment to himself. He wasted five years expecting to walk into the presidency because he's white and now he's showing how utterly unprepared and pampered he was to even work for the position. Adding a teabagger to this mess will only create more moderates to run away screaming. The McCain/Palin method is a failure, and at this point pandering to the tards only results in more losses.
