"Today, a man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy, condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all One Consciousness, experiencing itself subjectively......there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."

damn you good sir

This kids an idiot. You don't need mushrooms to do stupid things. I'm sure if given enough time he would have had a similar outcome without any drugs.

Nah not at all. I've done my share of hard drugs but I've never messed with shrooms. I've heard some freaky shiat goes down when people take it and the type of people i've known to use that stuff regularly are not people i'd really want myself associated with.

no, shrooms are great. much, much better than lsd. smooth and mellow. I'm sure that this gentleman was relaxed and smiling when he pulled the trigger. i'm sure of it.

he tells me he jacked off a few hours ago..Not a prob with that .Whatever.
Well I shook his hand earlier and I could not get that outta my mind.

/ I will shroom again with the proper people

so meth, heroin and crack are all good then?

have you done any Psychedelics? they are very mind expanding

mushrooms are not really something that are abused and some of the nicest people i know have and do eat them on occasion

Unless you know something about him that's not from the article, I don't see how you can make that judgement. It's commonly known and accepted that people can do crazy ass crap for bizarre reasons while on acid or shrooms, which is why you don't leave them alone.

So no, he probably wouldn't have eventually almost killed himself if he wasn't tripping on mushrooms.

OK.

I mean, you can close your eyelids and all, but what happens next sure as hell isn't sleep.

I once tripped balls on shrooms and then fell asleep, thinking they'd worn off and awoke feeling like I was in jello -- so much so that I rushed to turn the light on -- only to find everything on the bed quite dry.

/so I'm getting a kick out of these posts

Keep associating with people that do hard drugs with you. Keep us posted how that heroin, coke, crack lifestyle works out for ya.

FYI: mushrooms are not hard drugs. Hard drugs are addictive, psilocybin is not.

So you wouldn't want to hang out with Steve Jobs? He said that taking hallucinogens was one of the most important things he ever did in his life. Or how about Francis Crick? He discovered the structure of DNA while on LSD, which incidentally won him the Nobel Prize in Physiology. How about the Beatles? Surely you could spare a moment of your time to hang out with one of the greatest forces in pop culture history.

Hallucinogens are the drug of choice for people that are smart and interesting.

ThrobblefootSpectre: You wouldn't consider that maybe illegal drugs played a role too? That gun jumped in his hand and made him kill himself?

Of course it played a role, events have room for more than cause after all. But it's not like mixing guns and drugs is exactly a rare event. Combine guns with either drugs, depression or other mental problems, or just plain stupidity and suddenly it's statistically not that safe to have around compared to the less likely event you'll need a gun to protect yourself and have it on you and pull it out in time to successfully defend yourself.

Gwyrddu: .

On the other hand, this is one more example why guns statistically don't make most people safe. For every incident where a gun was used in self-defense, there are a lot more where the gun is turned on the owner or someone innocent by accident. It's also why cops and the military in war zones have higher successful suicide rates as well, just having guns easily accessible drops the average life expectancy.

Your naïveté has adderalled my ambien.

And for what it's worth, if anyone's interested in reading about some of the more interesting effects of psilocybin and psychedelic exploration- it's worth looking into the Johns Hopkins studies of its effects on depression and on death acceptance for end stage cancer patients.

I actually got the chance to see him speak live at a thing in San Francisco (with Spacetime Continuum and a didgeridoo player). Kinda half speech, half rave. Pretty cool. Glad I got to before he died. They actually taped it and I have a VHS copy somewhere. It's on YouTube, too.

What do you think I'd find convincing about the "half-raving" of someone who isn't even an expert in the field of what the drugs he takes actually do? His expertise is that he was a new-agey dude who took a whole bunch of drugs, and who was buddies with an biochemist whose pet theory was similarly new-agey and never shown to have any merit. I'm sure his lectures are full of anecdotes of very interesting trips and all, but I'm not sure what's supposed to be compelling about it.

You don't take dimethyltrypramine, it happens to you. That's a better way to explain it than any other I've ever seen. It's not a trip, it's just something that happens when you picked up the pipe like a dumbass(it'd take a special kind of idiot to hit it for a second time). You may have hit it of your own accord, but what happens after isn't in your control at all. It happened, deal with it. There is no point of reference, nothing to compare to reality. Even Straussman's "The Spirit Molecule" doesn't touch on that, I think ten hits of LSD is a great afternoon, I love my psychedelics. DMT is far outside of the human frame of reference. I don't know if I'll do it again even if offered, there is NOTHING that compares to a breakthrough DMT experience, it's so far beyond what the human mind experiences normally that it's beyond alien, I used to joke about "you never come all the way home" about LSD, it's absolutely true with DMT. You won't ever see the world the same way again, and I imagine it might be dangerous for people who don't want to see the cracks in their perception. Makes salvia divinorum look like a toy, it's not an experience most people should have, regardless of what the proponents of psychedelia state. LSD is fun shiat, DMT is something beyond, you'll never be the same again if it happens to you. And it happens, you don't take it. Trip doesn't begin to describe it, if it happens to you be aware.

That said, I've also jumped on a friend who tried to shoot himself while tripping(brugmansia flowers, not mushrooms, same "I need to wake up" type of thing though.), even a graze from a .45 is a hell of a wound. If someone's freaking out on a psyche and you're not an experienced handler, your best bet is to tie them to a chair. Keep checking on them once an hour or so, keep them tied up for an hour after you're sure they're cool.If you are an experienced handler, you already know how to deal with it, they don't exactly give classes on it.

/DMT literally 180'd my life
//still not sure I'd go for it again.

I understand where you're coming from with Rogan. I think it's great that you actually care about these things, honestly.

I've personally have never tried DMT, but with Salvia I had a few intense out of body experiences. Both of these substances lead to a higher knowledge of the Universe. I think it's great when people are vocal about things that are so incredibly strange and left-field to most people. It would be so great if we could all steer away from alcohol and more towards these types of things, and then discovering things like the Higgs boson would seem like small potatoes. lol
