Hells yeah. I give my kid a beer now, he'll never want one later. This is a lesson every kid should have to learn, along with working in a fast food restaurant.

i don't really want to deal with giving my kid a bunch of beer so i just plan on having my pregnant wife drink until she passes out a few times.

A sober toddler falling out of his seat doesn't sound all that unusual to me.

My first instinct would be to slap his or her hand away. Because nobody and I mean nobody fecks with my beer.

Stupid baby, buy your own.

Ah, I remember one New Year's (this was in the mid-80s in China). My uncle apparently thought it would be really amusing to give me a bottle of a sweet alcoholic beverage (I guess it's like Zima). I was probably 3 or 4.

I downed that bottle, got really shiatfaced and passed out for 12 hours. My mom was pretty pissed at my uncle.

I'm calling bull shiat. I'm 21 and I can't stand how bitter beer is. How does a 2 year old drink it?

Okay, I laughed.

When my kid was 2 I was sitting after dinner sipping a whisky. My kid comes over and starts begging for it. He thinks it's apple juice, and I guess from his perspective it sure looked like it. I said no, this is for adults and it tastes really bad. He doesn't take no for an answer. He keeps reaching for the glass, even when given his own juice.

Finally, I sit him on my lap. I hold the cup to his mouth and he grabs it and takes a small sip.

The reaction was what you'd expect. He couldn't spit it out fast enough. Even with most of it spit out, he still can't bubble fast enough to get the rest of it out of his mouth. Finally, he gets his cup of juice and washes the taste out of his mouth.

He hasn't asked for another in years. All of Daddy's drinks are suspect and to be avoided.

When I was 2 and 3, I talked too much. Apparently I wouldn't STFU. I think I'd rather have been given some beer than thrown into my bed and slamming my head against the headboard, requiring many stitches. I still have multiple scars on my head for behavior like this.

My son is 3 now and payback is a biatch because he's same way I was. I would never lay a hand on him though. Boy how times have changed.

Little kids have been known to help themselves to unattended glasses/bottles/cans of beer from time to time. Years ago when my sister was a toddler she was quite fond of the taste of beer. Our dad had to remember not to leave his beer unattended if he left the room or he'd find her taking sips when he returned.

The funny thing is that when she got older, and even nowadays, she doesn't like the taste of beer and will refuse it if offered.

Beginning when I was about 5 (late '70's), my dad would send me down to the basement beer fridge to get him a barley pop. I learned how to use a bottle opener on my own and would take a few swigs on my way up. I was the world's youngest bartender. The swigs made me feel warm and I had to pee.

/fancy myself as a decent bartender to this day
//can drink a shiat ton of beer.

Exactly how much alcohol did she put in the kid's cup? If it were really just a "splash," then the kid probably just fell down 'cause he's a freaking toddler. However, I wouldn't necessarily take the mother's word for how much she put in there.

2012-07-06 06:27:58 AM
Maybe I'm just an old conservative, but I find the alleged action of this mother irresponsible, reprehensible and repugnant.

Seriously, feeding a two-year-old child Peter Piper Pizza?

That is cruel and inhumane.

I hope she likes Joe Arpaio's Tent City.

Grew up as an Army brat. Living in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1959-60. At the time in question my Mom was at the Heildelberg Army Hospital giving birth to my little brother. We had a German babysitter who we used regularly staying with us for the couple of days because Dad still had to work. He came home one lunchtime for a minute and saw myself and two sisters, all under six, sitting at the table with our lunch. Tomato soup, grilled cheese, and a glass of beer. American has a screwed up view of alcohol consumption.

Really, they gave me beer to put me to sleep.

never heard of any child, much less a toddler, who likes beer enough to drink more than a sip or two. My two year old wont drink juice most of the time.

2012-07-06 07:07:07 AM
If the kid is young enough to use a sippy cup, then it does not need any outside help for falling off a chair; it can accomplish that on it's own, thankyouverymuch.

2012-07-06 07:11:14 AM
Topete has been charged with one count of child abuse.

Depending on how much she gave him, I say Bull Shiat!!! If she filled up his sippy cup and gave him a bunch, then yea, but a splash?

So? She gave him a few sips of [American] beer. That's something that's been going on for generations. Before modern water treatment systems, beer was safer to drink than the water from the lake/river. Children were given weaker drinks, but it was still alcohol.

The only thing this woman did wrong was do it in a public place where stupid people could report her.

Back in the late '70s my 6yo friend liked port wine so much that he drank an entire pint of it at a school BBQ and then ran into a tree. It was given to him by his dad, who later became an admiral. Times have changed.

BurnShrike: So? She gave him a few sips of [American] beer.

To be fair, that's similar to making the kid drink urine.

If it was Bear Grylls' kid, an exception could be made...but since it isn't, that's child abuse.

Now, if she'd given the kid actual beer, that's a different story.
