No cookies, but I've got chocolate cake. Would that do?

Excellent. I've got milk. It's all good! Welcome! :o)

Does chocolate cake go with pinot gris?

At about 17 and a half minutes, watch the black tortie and then again at between 24 and 25 minutes. It's hysterical.

I actually saw that live, that's how much I've been watching it. I need to get out more, lol (it's too hot out there though!) First he falls into the litter box, then instantly falls asleep. So funny!

LOL

I saw her falling in live but then tore myself away to go to the bathroom or something and when I got back, everyone was thanking the human for showing them something..... I had to wait for it to go into reruns to catch the picture of Spooky on her back. She was sooooooo drunk!

My power went out again tonight. It gets awful warm in here. At least this time it only took 5 hours to get it back up, instead of 9 like last night. But I had to miss Caturday for 5 whole hours! I hope this isn't going to be a regular nightly occurence.

theurbanpagan: I thought I would give a quick update. The kitten has been doing very well. Her name is Oto. We figured this out because she loves to check out your ears, nose and mouth. We figure she must have been an otolaryngologist in a previous life. Thus... Oto. When we told a friend of ours who is Japanese the name Oto, our friend said it means "sound". Perfect! Oto is very loud too. :)

Fang is still not completely happy that Oto is here but they have been giving each other hello headbutts and they can eat next to each other so that's always good.

Here is a picture of Oto in her new scratchy post/mini-tree:

She has already gained a few nicknames as well:

Killer (since she killed a mouse for us)
Grey Lady Shaolin Master of the Thunderpaw Technique
Destroyah, Scourge of Toilet Paper

Sounds like she has wriggled her way into your heart already! ;D

Ok, so this has been a good week fostering. I've had Max since mid-June and he's been doing really well. He was brought in at 2 days old and had a rough few weeks before I got him. He was underweight and missing fur in patches when I got him, and really just looked so sad the resident cats didn't even bother to get hissy and dramatic with him. His sister Sushi had some injuries (mostly from him sucking on her) and was even more underweight and not thriving, so she had to stay at the shelter. The intent was to reunite them when she got better, but when I stopped hearing about her from the foster department, I feared the worst.

Then on Tuesday I got a message saying she was ready to come home. So I go get her, and she's even sadder and so-ugly-she's-cute-er than Max was. The kittens were thrilled to be reunited, and within 2 days Sushi's eating solid food like there's no tomorrow and managing to hold her own with her much bigger brother. She's overcome a lot of her timidity and has taken to sleeping on my shoulder when I'm on the couch. And she's looking more like a cat and less like an underfed chihuahua.

And today I took Max in for his 3-week checkup. The vet didn't even recognise him and was SO happy about his weight gain and condition that she took pictures to send around to the other people who'd been involved in his care when it didn't look like either of them would make it.

I've been having a rough time, so being around these resilient little cats - and seeing how much difference it makes for them to be in a foster home rather than a shelter - is exactly what I need.

StranahansBarracuda: MoronLessOff: StranahansBarracuda: flamingboar: Hey fellow caturday people! May I ask for advice for good cat toys? My cat is bored of the cat nip mice and laser toy. Are there any other types of toys I should try?

I feel bad because he just lays around and sleeps all day, or is up and constantly grooming.

Straws! I got this idea from Kay's Daddy. I picked up a package of bendy straws at the dollar store and mine LOVE them, Also the "anything dangling from a stick" variety.

Pipe cleaners.

My Dad smokes a pipe and since he lives with me for the summer there are used pipe cleaners out on the porch by the ash tray. I have already caught George (my orange boy) chewing the used end of one. Nicotine + cats = BAD. So while pipe cleaners are a wonderful idea for people who don't need to use them for their intended purpose, it can create confusion in my house that is ultimately harmful to the kittehs.

I enjoy a pipe on occasion. I make sure the used cleaners go right into a can that my babies can't get into. Now and then, I wrap one around my finger into a spring and just toss it on the floor. The cat goes nuts and the dog chases the cat chasing the cleaner. Fun for everyone!

Look at that smug face. Someone needs to shoop a Dos Equis in there. He's the most interesting cat in the world.

angrycrank: Ok, so this has been a good week fostering.

Happy belated Caturday to everyone.
We've been dog and cat sitting for the last week. Johnny loves it, they're right across the street so it means 5-6 trips over each day and he can play in someone else's yard. As in the past I never see one of the cats, the other is very friendly and comes out of his spot to see Johnny. (both full time indoor cats)

A play break:
