Or do I have to set up bunk beds in my living room and have all y'all come over here? It's getting into the high 80s but cooling off to the mid 50s overnight.

Sounds lovely!

94 and rain here in STL tomorrow. I love the rain part. We need it so badly. And at least it's not triple-digit weather for the first time in 10 frikken days.

Thanks! I figured that might be the case. I guess neutered males are more prone to stones. Thankfully my little man never had a problem with it.

Ivan is spending the time in my lap this morning. I reeeeeaaallly want some iced coffee, but he's comfy, and The Man is asleep (just moved to night shift) so I can't use my noisy coffee grinder since it's right outside the bedroom. Bah!

Yay Leonard now running El Brujo's life for him. Also good Caturday luck to Officer Ted, who may have had his bladder stone surgery already. Our Ginger had urinary issues & was Rxed Hill's w/d chow for it (continues for his insulin dependent diabetes) but never had stones.

spidermilk: I have a cat questions for you cat experts. I have one cat. He had FHV as a kitten so based on what I understand he still have FHV. So can I never get another cat? Are there FHV positive cats I could adopt? I am going to ask my vet, but I thought I'd ask you guys too. I understand that all cats are vaccinated for FHV but it sounds like the vaccine does not prevent the disease- it just makes it less severe.

I think you may be confusing FHV with FIV or FeLV. FHV is a pretty common respiratory virus that can cause some eye irritation. I believe that once a cat has it they always will and it can flare from time to time. Treatment is typically an anti-biotic eye ointment, maybe some oral anti-biotics and some nose cleaning. In kittens it can be deadly, but in adult cats not as bad. If it's FHV, then yes, you can have another cat.

FIV on the other hand is feline AIDS, and FeLV is Feline leukemia. Cats who have that may live long healthy lives BUT they may not and should be kept as a single cat or with other FIV or FeLV positive cats.

Little Mandy Pandy here has a healing eye ulcer from her bout with FHV. Eventually it cleared up and she went off to live with a little girl

Yes, relief is on the way. This is supposed to be the last (but the worst) day for a while. I've heard different numbers thrown around for highs today and all involved three digits. Tomorrow it's only going up to 90, then downward into the 80's from there.

I would really like to get out and get some chores done. Stuff is piling up.

Your vet should be able to recommend some food - my elder-statesman kitty (he looked very pompous) had stones, and he was on a prescription diet from the vet afterwards. IIRC it was Hills Science Plan, and came in gooshy pouches and dried biscuits.

We tried Science Diet dry prescription diet and everyone seems to like it. They really looove the Royal Canin SO dry but it makes Nathan sick, so we're going to need to stick to the Science Diet.

Mr. Gordon had such a cute face!

My mom took in a feral who had kittens. Only one survived, but once mama cat saw all the food and love her baby was getting, she became a great social cat. She is one of the first to sit in your lap or beg for pets. So have hope that mama cat will become more social as her kittens do!
