fusillade762: universebetween: Mega Steve: universebetween: anyone stoned then open that link and stroke out?

Hey, I like bacon as much as the next Farker, but stroke out? Keep it in your pants

I bet bacon grease would make excellent lube.

Not likely. An old GF and I ran out of lube one time during a marathon drug-fueled sex session and we tried cooking oil. Besides being a hell of a mess it creates too much friction.

Bacon lube? Thats porkin'

Pshaw on all of you. I had a bacon-wrapped filet this evening, done medium rare on the backyard grill. Once I found and pulled the toothpick, it was as good as anything has a right to be.

Because the flavor of steak and an over-easy egg go great together?

Brytanica1: TuteTibiImperes: I'd hesitate to call this a burger. It's more like an over-processed BLT minus the LT.

Part of what makes a bacon cheeseburger good is the contrast between the salty smoky bacon and the ground beef patty, eliminating the ground beef turns this into something else. It also looks like a big wad of meat without any vegetables for contrast, I'm not digging on it.

Thick hand-formed all beef patty with a bit of Worcestershire, salt and pepper to season it, cooked to medium rare over an open charcoal or woodburning grill so that it gets a nice crust and smoky hit, served with lettuce, tomato, raw onion, dill pickle, a couple slices of thick cut bacon and sharp cheddar on a toasted buttered bun with spicy mustard and just a light drizzle of ketchup is perfection.

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

I will take 3 of these please, and super size it.

I do like bacon, but that burger looks disgusting. the lamburger, on the other hand, looks like something I'd actually try if given the chance. Even if the lamb does look too finely ground in that picture.

/Grew up on lamburgers.
//May be biased.

Lamburgers can be dry, really dry, and if laced with chopped onion, can cause gastric distress such as you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy (unless you're my dad).

Odd. I've never had an issue with them. And those I'm used to come from relatively lean lamb. Done right they can be quite juicy. Never have had them with chopped onion, but with feta cheese and cucumber sauce they are delicious. :p

We went to one of those Brazilian meat-fest restaurants.

They had HUGE chunks of bacon on swords. Also, sausage, sirloin, lamb, turkey, pork loin, chicken, and veal.

I came several times.

I got a credit card sized, two inch thick piece of smoked bacon. Combined with mixed meats, I came several times more.

Every town with a population over 2 needs a Brazilian meat orgy restaurant.

That's all I really have to say about that.

Trust me, it's very good. When I was in college in DC (early-to-mid 90's), the Chinese food places that delivered to campus also sold subs. A specialty at several places was a Philly Cheesesteak sub with scrambled egg lining the bread in a U-shaped pattern. OM NOM NOM NOM!

Lsherm: When I worked as a butcher we'd blend bacon in with regular ground beef, but anything above 20% made it impossible to cook all the way through and left everything a soggy, greasy, crumbly mess. Ground bacon doesn't stick as well as ground beef.

100% ground bacon makes me want to vomit.

Impossible, but yet, there it is.

perhaps you were doing it wrong?

Hot damn, it's in San Diego no less. But Liberty Station is becoming pretty packed with burger places, if memory serves. I guess it helps that Stone doesn't really server burgers IIRC.

It is a very good thing I just finished eating my late night snack quesadilla, or I'd be trying to thaw hamburger right now.

Okay, the article says it's a southern california burger chain. I went to their website with hope in my heart that the chain might have a location close to me, but it turns out they have only one location nowhere near me. Last time I checked one location does not make a chain.

You take some bacon. You cook it up. You put it on a plate with a paper towel or three. You stare at it fixedly, maybe patting the bacon with the paper towel a little. Then you eat it. Grinding it up does not make it better. Putting bread around it doesn't make it better. It's bacon. Just eat some bacon.

I'm really not at all into this egg-on-burger fad.
I'd have to order this without the egg.

lack of warmth: Johnsonville came out with a bratwurst burger. I like bratwurst, but not the burger so much. I don't think I would want to try this sandwich. I know I am not typical, I don't like a lot of bacon.

This isn't the first. There is a place where I live called the Rabbit Hole that has made a 100% ground bacon burger for a few years now. It is pure awesome, and probably much much better than some fast food crap.

2012-07-06 10:48:11 AM
In the food processor:
1lb brisket
1lb skirt steak
1/2lb thick cut bacon
Salt & pepper

Process until burger consistency, but don't overdo it.

You'll never want that ground beef supermarket crap again. I also use tenderloin and other "better" cuts when on sale.

Anyone in or near Colorado Springs - there is a great restaurant in the Tehon street area called "The Rabbit Hole" - they have a 100% ground bacon burger called "The Juicy Lucy". It is culinary heaven.

Best menu in COS.
