Well, look at the third cloud in the (Flash, ick) slideshow, and you might have been a little wierded out by it, too.

Fortunately the wordsmith that wrote the article was so telling in their prose I did not need to see a picture of this cloud that wowed Indiana. I was so captivated I forgot to look for a picture of Roy Neery in his work truck or find a picture of Abe Simpson. I was almost so enamored of this wonderful article that I forgot to say news stories based primarily on something visual that do not include a visual, people who submit them, and people who approve them, suck.

I got a great idea for an article, let's talk about something visual but include no picture.

We get clouds that look like that every single day during the Summer in Florida.

Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: "Thousands of Hoosiers" - are Indiana residents known as hoosiers?

If you don't like Indiana, the etymology comes from "You don't even know hoosier (who's your) daddy".

"Muncie residents were captivated on Thursday evening by a shiny bit of tinfoil blowing through the parking lot of the local Olive Garden. Police were called out to control the resulting crowd as it gathered to gaze in awe at the record-setting level of shiny. Three people were killed and another two were injured as police fired on the object, later stating that "it appeared to be a weapon or an alien of some kind." No investigation is planned into the incident. The bit of tinfoil is currently on display in the student center of Ball State University"

That is just a normal cumulonimbus cloud...
I was expecting it to be like a standing lenticular or roll or shelf cloud... but people being captivated by a cumulonimbus...
Anyone from tornado alley or florida see these on a daily basis during late spring and summer.

Hey, now. They'd put the foil in the museum in Muncie, not Ball State.

There are two Muncies, by the way. There's Muncie (or Muntucky), and Ball State (a.k.a. the "good" Muncie). Ball State is to Muncie as Austin is to Texas, basically.

Where I grew up, away out on the prairie, when we saw this heading for us, we went somewhere else. Under the ground mostly. During the summer this only happened ten or twenty times per month. I will say that when a anvil cloud, a super cell , of this magnitude approaches and is nearly upon you, I'll just say that you won't soon forget it no matter how many times it happens.

We went blue for the last presidential election, I was surprised. Although someone could starve on the difference between Indiana democrats and Indiana Republicans. When I first voted here I loaded up all the candidates websites plank listings and played "Guess the party affiliation." I think I identified one democrat out of 6.

Live in Indiana. Saw the cloud yesterday. It was pretty cool. Top was almost glowing (pic in article is pretty crappy rendition). Pointed it out to my 3 year old daughter. She said 'ooooooo'. That should have been the end of it.
