Only problem is the receipt checkers at the door, and every time a book is checked out, it's replaced by a cheap Chinese copy.

Given the tone of your post, I'm assuming areas that would qualify might be such "tiny spots getting tinier" as the 4th, 7th, 9th, and 13th most populous cities in the U.S. (all of which have Democratic mayors, favored Obama in 2008, and are growing)?

Hate on Texas all you want; there are plenty problems here. But, FFS, it's not a homogeneous, wall-to-wall, GOP empire. Those four cities alone account for ~20% of the population of the state.

Being a single story building does limit the damage. Less of a vantage point. Now if they were to scab on a clock tower I would run the opposite direction.

I'm not sure I'd want to visit a library that only has one story. Certainly not after I've read it.

probably more of a museum, since most texans have never actually seen a book... other than the 'good book', of course.
