The problem with any large sized underwire bra is that it will still look like a boob belt down around your waist. Even if you go with a smaller tighter band (and give yourself some nice back cleavage), the cups will flop over. These things do not defy gravity (as indicated in the pix in the article).

Now, if you have big natural boobs, you need something more like this. It supports the boobs from the hips with boning - he-he, she said boning, thus can keep them up and away from your belt line and closer to his eye line:

Trillian Astra: I May Be Crazy But...: Go on...

About bras and the engineering that goes into creating something made of flimsy material and thin pieces of metal (or occasionally plastic, I'm looking at you Victoria's Secret) that is capable of holding a few pounds of fat and mammory tissue in place without snapping under the tension?

That's it. Now say "flimsy material" slower and help me forget my troubles.

I'm hoping the discover of the Higgs boson will facilitate the antigravity technology needed to make a strapless bra above a C cup that's more effective than a slightly ambitious and extra uncomfortable tube top. Because I swear that's what it's gonna farking take.

While corsetry is all well and good, it isn't a practical solution for daily life and it has negative impacts on a woman's body. Larger band widths (with three to five hooks) provide ample support without creating a lumpy back-boob effect. It's just that most women seem to think anything with more than two hooks is granny-ish and most men seem to be confused by the idea that they might have to put a bit of effort into undressing a woman.

Or we just have enough trouble with two of those little hooks. Those damn hooks... Who'd have though I should bring a pair of scissors on a date?

Although, knowing what women's underwear costs, I suspect that would be a good way to not get another date.

While I appreciate this sentiment, a strapless bra on a big girl is not a practical solution for daily life. I have a strapless wedding dress and was able to comfortably wear a corset for over 11 hours. A strapless bra would have worked it's way to my ankles 1/2 way through the night. Personally, I think (as a gal, albeit) that the corset look is sexy and slimming for special occasions and much better looking on a big boobed girl than the strapless (caveat - since fake boobs tend to need less real support this does not necessary apply to enhanced ladies).

If it's a special sexy time, I'll do a lacy little number with thin straps and one or two clips (again not practical for daily life), but if I need to be comfortable during the day or at the gym in 26 minutes, I don't care how sexy my undergarments do/don't look

Those actually look more like 60B's.
(Cup size is the difference between ribcage and fullest part of the breast - the number is the ribcage measurement)

As a bigger busted (and just plain bigger) woman myself, I have to say this sounds entirely ridiculous. Even the picture they show of a woman wearing the thing (not the skinny model in pink, the one further down the page) doesn't look comfortable or particularly supportive. I assume that a demonstration picture is going to be done in best possible circumstances, a properly fitted bra being worn appropriately, so if that's the best it gets, what good is it?

My sister's getting married this summer, and decided to put her entourage in strappy dresses. To get around the bra issue, I got a longline strapless bra, which is a cross between a strapless bra and a corset. All the support comes from below, and trust me, in the later alphabet letters, you _need_ that support. This bra is just stupid on many levels.

Anyway, carry on with the pictures.

I didn't say the bra had to be strapless. Who in their right mind would wear a strapless bra "for daily life". Bigger breasted women can't practically wear strapless without the benefit of supportive shapewear. Corsets are not the only option.

Since the original post was about the strapless 42K, I recommended a corset instead. I agree, with you: Hell naw, a corset would not be an option for daily life, but for strapless occasions, they are a great option.

Dammit. I want to buy whatever that is that she's wearing. Looks lovely.

It's hard to find pretties to wear that cover the breast, but softly. They usually have either some industrial-strength scaffolding that doesn't feel so great against the hand, -or- just a hole/nothing and the tit just sits there exposed.

I find them to be too hot and constricting. I'm large chested without being a massive landwhale so I've got some shape to me and find that my posture is well enough that it doesn't need the help a corset gives. A bit of shapewear made from modern material without excessive boning is much more practical.

Unrelated CSB:

I bought a $60 lacy little number from Fredrick's of Hollywood to wear at the wedding. I tried it out for my bridal pix. Bent over once and all the boning cracked, all of it (because who doesn't think "quality" when you think FoH?)! I was in the stupid thing for less than 2 hours. Now I am not a big person, just not proportionate at all when it comes to my chest.

So my bridal pix are me trying to nonchalantly hold my chest up, while being jabbed in 5 different places by stabby boning. Good times. Then I actually got a "real" corset for the wedding that I still love.

But I think we agree strapless bras for big girls is not really a good option. (Would you mind linking me to the shapewear you are talking about?)

Spiralmonkey: That's the same company - Simply Be.

I realized after reading through the entire article (I have a tendency to skip through the boring parts) that this is the parent company of SimplyBe and a few other stores. Doesn't take away from the fact that this is not a new thing. They're been advertising a Q-cup strapless bra for over a year in their mail catalogues.

RedT: But I think we agree strapless bras for big girls is not really a good option. (Would you mind linking me to the shapewear you are talking about?)

Why in the world would you have gone to Fredricks of Hollywood. My local bra shop stocks a shiatload of hard to find sizes (mine included since not even Lane Bryant's shiatty bras get stocked in my size at their largest area location) and can do custom orders for bridal and special occasion shapewear and corsetry. It's fantastic. I'm not sure the brand for my strapless bodywear but I know Va bien makes one that goes to at least an F cup. I suggest looking into long-line bras that offer a surprising amount of support without the tediousness of a full length corset.
