(Yahoo)   Tom (Tommy) Cruise insisted that everyone stop calling his wife Katie after she became pregnant because it was a little girls name and they should call her 'Kate' now. So I guess when Suri grew up he was going to call her 'Sur'?   (omg.yahoo.com) divider line 148

There are only two movies that Cruise has acted well in: "Tropic Thunder" and "Colleteral."

Why? Because he was essentially playing himself.

Eh, I don't call wearing a fat suit and chewing the scenery acting. It was entertaining, but not acting.

Seems to me its only like that in pictures taken with him, more recently. Her whole body posture and facial expression in the pictures i've seen lately just scream "geez, i can't believe i'm still putting up with this joke of a man, but just you wait, world, i'll show him soon enough". I'll bet her smile is all straightened out on "Project Runway".

I don't think he's a "bad" actor, but in most of his serious roles, he carries a weird, off-putting intensity where he doesn't show much emotional range but there's this constant chill in his eyes and he seems to stare instead of look at his on-screen companions. It's hard to explain, but it throws me off and makes me feel uncomfortable

I swear he's best just playing a cocky ass (Top Gun, Rainman, Jerry Maguire, etc).

Pretty much. Most people with room temperature IQs tend to not be able to seperate film from reality and believe that one can be judged off of the other. To them, Tim curry will always be a French, cross-dressing clown.

The name's Ted. Yes, my mother did me the disservice of naming me Theodore, and I haven't a clue as to how you know that, because everybody who knows that... is thousands of #$@%ing miles away. Have you any idea, the faintest idea, what it's like to arrive at school and find yourself surrounded by the maladjusted? And there you stand, little Lord Fauntleroy. Ever worn a bonnet? Give it a try sometime. So shoot me now, because no one is ever going to call me Theodore again, let alone... Theo... the Thumper.

true...they are more the exception than the rule. and i'm not just talking about tmz-type media, anyway. sure tom and guys like him are all over tabloids and such acting crazy, whereas those other guys aren't. but the 3 you mentioned, for example, do show some crazy...deniro and hoffman, as you recall, were BOTH in focker movies (and as much as i love the first one, the other 2 leave a lot to be desired), and pacino is noticably nuts AND was in the worst movie sandler ever made, as crazy love interest to the sister, portrayed by sandler
