+ 1/2 on the headline, since I am pretty sure the Philharmonic doesn't have any saxophones.

Not permanently, but they're brought in when playing Rhapsody in Blue, Bolero, Pictures at an Exhibition, etc...

Also, Wynton Marsalis has been a frequent guest soloist with his jazz group.

geesh, just another 1%er looking for PR and tax write offs.

If we had a 80% marginal rate on these societal leaches, we wouldn't have this problem.

what a loser.

Alec Baldwin gives New York Philharmonic $1 million gift to promote more sax and violins is a loud mouth with severe impulse control problems.

Meh. A rich POS trying to buy some respectability because of his anger management problems.

Fark him and his 1% bullshiate.

He's good in '30 Rock', though.

Twenty posts in, and nobody has mentioned his recent wedding to his yoga instructor, 26 years his junior?

Hey, I figure this was just his payoff for being given the NY Phil's "This Week" spokesman gig a couple years back. There are many other people I'd rather have in that position--who could genuinely be enlightening...

The headline didn't make any sense. When people donate money to a symphony orchestra they don't get to pick which instruments it goes to.

I guess subby needs to C) Learn these things before writing.
