Because in situations of rape or incest, the women were forced in to that situation and it is a horrible mental and physical penalty on someone who may not be equipped to handle the child. As a society, we should recognize that, in some cases, not having the child is the best course of action. And, in the case of certain physical issues, it could cause the death of mother or baby.

Of course, we could force people to carry to full-term resulting in more deaths to the mother, serious physical or mental issues for mother and baby, or simply fall in to an already stressed foster care system.
