When will the great schism close in the hotdog speedeating world? Will there be a moment like Raw and Nitro being shown on simulcast? will one of the eaters succumb? Will anyone actually care?

You can potentially work up a sweat curling, so I suppose so. It's sort of like a cross between a sport and "tidying up a bit."

CSB time:

A competitive eater used to come into the restaurant where I worked from time to time. One day we got to talking about how he was going for the hard-boiled egg eating record the next week. I saw him a couple of weeks later and asked how it went. He said "Mmmmwwwaaaaaannnn". And then his wife told me about the stroke he had right after the attempt.

I'm going to defend this as a sport.

Any fatass can run a slant pattern, but I'd like to see Megatron take down 68 dogs in 10 minutes.

Think about it. It takes physical endurance, pain tolerance, strategy and discipline to be good at eating all that stuff. Most of the contenstants are svelt and work out a lot.

Speaking of eggs, my dad likes to tell a story about a black master sergeant he had while in the army (Korean conflict), little guy, about 5'5" who would eat 50 fried eggs on Sunday morning at breakfast. He said everybody looked forward to Sunday, cuz', the rest of the week they had powdered eggs.

I'll bet Kobayashi, who got $15.000 for winning compared to only $10,000 that went to Chestnut, would disagree about what counts.

If a fat guy can do it while sitting down and come out the winner without getting winded, then posting to Fark is an Olympic event and I've got a good chance at the gold.
