anfrind: That's a gross oversimplification. Steve Jobs may have been a sociopath with lots of money, but he also had excellent taste and extreme attention to detail.

At what expense?

Millions of devices with non-replaceable batteries creating a hazmat nightmare? Reliance on slave-like manufacturing facilities? Non-cooperation with existing standard to force companies to spend a lot of money to support his consumer-grade, unpredictable compatibility, and premium "solutions".

The waste and overhead costs he personally initiated with his "excellent taste and attention to detail" are immense.

I have an iPad but it's a sad testament to consumerist obsolescence that society has to pay to clean up. Privatized gains, socialized losses.
