Put some cat food near the tree. It'll come down eventually. I've never seen a cat skeleton in a tree.

that's because owls, assface.

owls are the greatest threat our kitties face in the great outdoors. if you see an owl in your neighborhood, kill it now, before it eats another kitty. they are remorseless flying killing machines that will not stop, or cannot be bargained with. they absolutely will not stop until they have eaten your kitty, and your jack russels. shot them on sight, burn down the pine trees they live in, and make our world a safer place for all kitties.

thank you.

What that article *really* needed was a Google map of the exact location of the scene. No idea why they didn't include that.

Pretty much done in one. We have a few outdoor kitties (not ours) we feed. They hear the food, and will pretty much scurry from a block away... hell or high water.

I never seen or heard an owl here near Houston. We have buzzards, but they're an after the fact kind of bird.

Call up United Rents or Sunbelt or someone, ask to borrow a 60' or 120' manlift... BOOM, problem solved.

I'm not going to call anyone. If the stupid cat can't get itself down it deserves to die up there.

But I really wanted to know where a street with a name like that would be in a hellhole like Springfield!

Yeah, it's a no-shiat situation. And you don't use climbing spikes on a tree you don't plan to cut down because it leaves a line of holes up the side of the tree.

He's right about owls. And yes, owls live in Houston; jesus, you're not that stupid, are you?

I've had a few cats taken by owls, one right in front of me. It's life, I don't hold it against the owl.

Stupid, not so much. Just haven't had any signs of owls being around. Never lost a cat due to owls in the 15 years I've been here.

+1 on letting cat figure it out for itself. Eventually it will come down.

That said, if one of our cats got outside and climbed up a 60 foot tree, the wife would be on the horn to the fire dept inside of 30 seconds.

Give that owl a metal! We've got to control the population of feral cats.

The only cat I ever had to rescue from a tree was about 40 feet up, and I kept my feet on the ground. Since the branch the cat was on was unobstructed I tied & taped twine to a baseball and eventually managed to throw it over the tree limb. The weight of the ball was sufficient to lower it to the ground where it was removed and replaced with a bucket. I put some food in the bucket and hoisted it up to the cat who was hungry enough to climb in. Lowering the cat went pretty well until about 12 feet off the ground where kitty tried jumping out of the bucket back into the tree, only to fall harmlessly to the ground.

for the DNRTFA crew, the cat was in the tree seven days. If kitty doesn't get down after a week, kitty aint coming down by herself

Was that observed continuously, or noticed on day 1, 3 6 and 7?

Also is the photographer could get this picture

Then I don't think the cat was that stuck.

This. What makes you think your precious mewing over breeding feline has more of a right to live than the owl? Guess what if your cat gets snatched up it is your fault not the owl's and there are 100 more cats sitting in your local animal shelter. Owls are being encroached upon my man not the other way around.

Dtrfa, but can the fire department at least create enough fire to get the godd+mn cat out the tree? Shouldn't fire trucks contain napalm breathing nozzles like WW2 tanks?

All domestic cats running loose outdoors should be shot. They are a scourge on the bird population. They're an introduced species and as such have no protection status. Further more all cat people should be closely watched for catness behavior.

My dad had to rescue a cat stuck on the roof once. He'd gotten there via a tree limb and couldn't find his way back down. To be fair, though, he was a short bus kind of cat.

Frankly I'd question the intelligence of any cat who manages to get stuck in a tree (or on a roof.) Glad Misty the Cat is okay, but seriously, how stupid is she?

If you clean this up a little and remove a few syllables you've got a haiku there, buddy. Let me try:

Realizing no kids
Who climb trees; look through window,
Yelling at the clouds

That's what I was thinking. The ladder may have only gone up 50 feet but even a .22 will go a lot higher than that.
