I love it. You really have to put the effort into searching, but there are websites all over the place that can help you with that.

Day1: OMG!!! There's so much stuff on there. WATCH EVERYTHING!

Month 1: I want this. And this. And this. And... why the fark do they always recommend Lesbian Dramas?
Month 2: Same crap as before. Well, there's always Futurama and those kinky Japanese cartoons.
Month 3: Wait- I just noticed something. They don't have any of the really GOOD movies. And the last season of any decent show is always missing. Fuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh.
Month 4: I think I'll check out what's on NetFlix. Click.... Nah. Click... Puhleeze- I didn't watch that the last three months you tried to tell me it was 'recently added.' Click... Jeezus cripes, why do they keep recommending Lesbian Dramas, Lesbian Comedies, and Movies With A Strong Female Lead? I only clicked on that movie once, and one of those chicks looked like a dude! Oh hell, forget about it. [OFF]

Recent movies? Sure- if they sucked. Good movies? Sure- if they came out so long ago nobody remembers them. Classic films? Sure- but only if they're not REAL classics. Your favorite actor/actress? Sure- but not in any good movies. Your favorite genre? Sure- but only the crappy movies in that category (unless you really like Lesbian Dramas, which apparently is 9/10ths of NetFlix's catalog).

I suppose I'm firmly in the "sixteen mothers" cross-section of the Netflix userbase. Almost all of our Netflix watching is children's shows, shows that are commercial-free, always available, and presented dozens of episodes at a time. Phineas and Ferb, Pingu, Shaun the Sheep, Timmy Time, Superhero Squad, heck, even My Little Pony, though it seems strange to be watching it without a 20-something guy in the room. Thing is, if Disney and Viacom pulled their offerings, we wouldn't buy from them on another service. We'd watch something else. Children are fickle and flexible, and thus, so are their parents.

I'm sad that the iPad app won't list what is new anymore. It's because I worked on what would interest me at the main Netflix website and now fills the screen with that.

use InstantWatcher - it not only tracks what's new (in easy alphabetical order), but also tracks what's leaving, so you can watch it before it goes. THey even have links to put it in your queue.

Also, loves me some Netflix. As a person who was too busy working for the last twenty or so years to really enjoy many television series, and who doesn't care for most of the "reality" programming on regular cable these days, I love the Netflix service. It is well worth the $8 a month, especially during the summer with the kid home. I can catch missed episodes of stuff I like and he can watch all of the goofy cartoons he wants.

For $8 a month, what did you expect? I frigging love Netflix Canada. I was disappointed with the selection at first when I realized they didn't have absolutely everything, but I've never not had anything to watch, ever. There's shiat-tons there.

Sometimes it's like the bargain bin of DVDs at the store. If you really search around and dig to the bottom, you can sometimes find a real gem. And it feels just as exciting too.

One thing they do is to put like 1 or 2 newish movies on, which I think is just so they can produce ads that make you think it's going to be awesome.

I had it for just over a month before I cancelled it. Switched to LoveFilm (owned by Amazon). Costs a little more but much better.

That's great. They can have my money again when they start the game rentals they promised and do a better job than the gamefly nonsense.

Of course it is, because it's the only option. There is no challenging service. And as soon as there is, Netflix will die. Or get good. Either one.
(Roku and others don't have the same setup as Netflix and are not comparable)

Misplaced my copy of Elvis Costello Live in Memphis, a concert film he released to promote The Delivery Man CD, so I streamed it on Netflix. Since I still have the box, it didn't take me long to realize that about a third of the songs on the DVD are missing from the streaming version.

The DVD selection, imperfect as it is, is still miles ahead of the streaming service. As long as producers keep playing games with rights, this won't change.

What's wrong with all you people?

How many 5 star blockbuster movies do you think are made a year? Watching netflix is like watching normal tv. On cable, there's probably 4 hours of quality programming a week. Everything else is the Kardashians.

Same with netflix. There's only so much stuff out there. If you dig deep, you can find some good movies and tv shows to watch.

I use google to help me. "best australian movies of 2011", 2010, 2009, ect. Found "The oyster farmer" that way, along with a couple of other good movies.

I discovered Eureka & Warehouse 13 on netflix.

Netflix has lots of good stuff to watch. You just have to wade through all the crap to find it.
