BooBoo is probably the name I'd choose as well if I had a Chihuahua. What a coincidence!

Who the fark brings $2000 worth of fishing gear on a 16 foot dingy... And who the fark brings $800 in cash on a boat, period. I don't even bring my good phone on boats. It's like those $200 beater cars with $2000 wheels.

So what's to keep someone from just salvaging the $2,000 of fishing gear and the wallet while leaving the boat on the bottom?

The $800 would be for the bundle of dope they were going to 'catch'. As why anyone would take a 16'er on water that big is beyond me. I am amazed by those that take them onto the great lakes.

Well, you're "supposed to," the same way you're "supposed to" wear a seatbelt when riding in a car and you're "supposed to" wear pants in public.

Those rules are more like guidelines, really.

No you just have to have them available. Usually only skiers wear them all the time.

Most boats less than 20' are usually foam filled to be "unsinkable" they float no matter what unless they are grossly overloaded.

I did a few "drug interdiction" deployments in the Navy. Once we seized a 20' sailboat with 40 kilos of coke and the Coasties arrested the 2 dumb shmucks on board, kept one brick as evidence and the boat was too small to tow but too big to haul aboard.

To leave it adrift would be a collision hazard so the decision was made to sink it. For over a half an hour they shot the shiat out of it with a .50 cal and it didn't sink. It was a giant piece of styrafoam with a fiberglass coating. Finally another small boat was launched to reboard the sailboat and douse it with gasoline and then toss in a flare.

2k worth of fishing gear is not much...I build my own fishing rods, and I'm an avid fisherman...Two rod/reel setups I own are about that much.

I don't get it. He's got $2800 worth of gear and cash on board. So pull it out of the water, sell the gear, and pay the tab. Then he's got a boat hull he can sell. Seems like a better solution than giving away $2800 worth of gear and cash and the boat hull.

Like that screeching harpy Judge Judy says, if it doesn't make sense, it isn't true.
