I'm not a conspiracy theorist myself, but this always seemed very plausible to me. After the 2nd plane hit at 9:03 you know you have terrorists on your hands and yet a full hour later is when passengers take over the plane and crash it themselves? It's a feel good story that was needed at that time. I wouldn't blame Bush one bit for shooting down that plane. But it's kinda hard to come out and say terrorists took over four planes and crashed into the WTC and Pentagon, but don't worry we shot down the fourth. Heroic passengers is much more convenient, and is easier to feed to a grieving nation.

All written evidence I can find points to this conclusion

A Christian farker (I'm not one) needs to patiently explain to this lady that:

A) Angels don't take bodies to heaven or guard people. They are messengers.

B) Angels aren't people, nor do people become angels when they croak.

C) No one leaves the Earth until Judgment Day, even if they die famous.

Not being a Christian I can't trot out the scriptural authority to nail these down convincingly, but still... It's sad when even non-believers know your beliefs are farked up.

Because what is tragic and suffering to man isn't tragic and suffering to god. If he exists and can give us an eternal afterlife in heaven, then no amount of suffering on Earth will matter. If you suffered agonizing pain 24/7 every second of your life and you lived to be 150, that is still nothing compared to an eternity of heaven. Eternity is a long time. 150 years of suffering? Nothing compared to a trillion trillion billion trillion quadrillion millenium (repeated an infinite number of times) of heaven. It's less than taking your baby to get a shot, a brief moment the baby doesn't like for long term gain.

Of all the inane theories put out by the truthers, that one is actually the most (relatively) plausible. I'm pretty sure that the word went out that the hijacked plane wasn't going to be allowed anywhere near a populated area, once the AF got close enough to do anything about it.

/assumes a lot, particularly the notion that the AF actually did get a fighter close enough.

I question the F-15 part.

PA Air Guard operated A-10s as their jet.
New York operated mostly rotary and transport aircraft.
Ohio operates the F-16Cs with their air guard.

The F-15s would have likely had to come out of North Carolina to intercept. Seems odd.
