(Kaiser Family Foundation)   Before you go yelling about how Obamacare is evil, a tax, will kill grandma, etc, maybe you should take this quiz to see if you even know what's in the bill. Subby got 9/10   (healthreform.kff.org) divider line 740

vernonFL: BillCo: Is Obamacare a bloated welfare program that will tax middle class Americans and bankrupt the United States?

How will it tax middle class Americans? How will it bankrupt the US? Can you please provide a citation, links, facts, figures and numbers?

You're kidding, right? Facts are BillCo's kryptonite.

2012-07-03 07:07:08 PM

I_Am_Weasel: Yay. I got 10/10.

Though, you should still get marks for chosing "I don't know" because if you don't know, it's technically correct.

the best type of correct?

BiblioTech: 10/10 Although I really try to stay apolitical on Facebook, I'm posting this along with ACA as explained to a five-year-old, etc.. Am going with the theory that between now and the election we _really_ need to start getting the word out about what the law does. Maybe if people realize it is not the big bad boogie man they've been brainwashed with, it will take the wind out of the sails of the Repubs. McConnell is already backing off.

So you're the one who hacked my bland-as-vanilla FB account and posted that lieberal propaganda?

Fortunately, my parents aren't on FB -- they still rely on fw: fw: fw: fw: emails. Rocking it old school, you might say.

9/10, I was told there would be death panels!

spongeboob: So a nurse anesthetist today told me she is worried because Obamacare will add millions to the insurance roles and that we don't have enough doctors as it is and people who already have insurance will now have to wait even longer to get into see doctors.
This is what Republicans seem to be all about, fark you I got mine and if you get any you can only get it from me. What ever happened to "a rising tide lifts all boats" I miss Reagan, would any Republican today propose the earned income tax credit,

9/10 for me by the way

The act has provisions for training of medical persons.

But this is a really selfish outlook. Perhaps if Americans, oh I don't know, practiced preventative care, they might not need to see the doctor so much.

2012-07-03 07:08:43 PM
"You answered 9 out of 10 questions correctly."

So, does that mean there won't be death panels? I was kinda looking forward to them. Thanks Fartbongo!

2012-07-03 07:09:39 PM
9/10. I missed the one about it reducing Medicare.

2012-07-03 07:09:45 PM
I think it's less important I share my results than what happened when I tried to get a friend of mine (who is republican) to take it. He refused to because it merely "towed the liberal line" of the "letter of the law" and "ignored its intents and effects."

So, basically, it's too factual, therefore it's biased.

2012-07-03 07:10:02 PM
10 out of 10. Most of these were common sense, unless you're stuck on just one news channel. I want to put together another one with some of the more fun parts of it.

Fluorescent Testicle: ghost_who_walks: I'm an Australian and I watch the Daily Show. Also 10/10. WTF America?

Dual Australian/American citizen currently living in Australia, don't watch the Daily Show, also 10/10. Of course, I've been paying a lot of attention to it because it's important to me personally (I'm living here because I couldn't get insurance or afford health care over there), so yeah. :P

Sweet, I got 10 out of 10 correct. Have only read the highlights of the bill,

// Can we get single payer now?

2012-07-03 07:11:17 PM
10/10

And it's not even my farking country.

Apparently only 45% know there are no death panels. That gave me a sad.

2012-07-03 07:12:41 PM
You answered 10 out of 10 questions correctly, better than 99.6% of Americans, or better than 15% of Farkers.

BillCo: 11. Is Obamacare a bloated welfare program that will tax middle class Americans and bankrupt the United States?

Answer: Yes, the law will do this.

9/10 - yes, I understand it.

10/11 if you count this one.

"You answered 10 out of 10 questions correctly, better than 99.6% of Americans."

Does BillCo EVER miss a chance to show how much of a slimy partisan douche bag he is and make a complete asshole of himself?

NO

11/11 if you count this one

Is BillCo a troll that can't back up 99.999999999% of any of his claims?

YES

12/12 if you count this one

Does BillCo Threadshiat then avoid answering 99.99999999% of questions and avoids any meaningful discussion?

YES

13/13 if you count this one

1) Will the new health program lower the amount you are able to contribute to your FSA account?

2) Will the health care program raise the amount you need to spend on medical care as a percentage of income before you can deduct it?

3) Will medical supplies cost more for hospitals?

4) If you make enough money that you've never had to worry about health insurance, will you pay more money in taxes on your investments?

/not actually opposed to the plan, think we have to do something, and parts of it are really sensible
//am opposed to people doing anything completely "one-sided" -- there are downsides to the bill that will affect everyone, though IMO, they are far smaller than the upsides if it works right

I got 10/10 and I've been vehemently opposed to PPACA from day one.

/Single-payer advocate who doesn't buy the "but we gotta move the Overton window!" first nonsense. Shoulda grabbed the bully pulpit and smashed that stupid farking window with it when the dems had supermajorities in House and Senate, blue dogs be damned.

I just had the same experience. Called a very Repub friend of mine and asked if she'd take the quiz. She said "no, I don't have time" and went back to posting on Facebook.

Weaver95: coeyagi: Weaver95: the press hasn't really done a very good job at challenging the lies told about Obamacare.

It's more interesting to cover the outrage than to challenge our cherished belief of "F*ck you, hobo, I got mine!"

oh i'm sure there's more than one reason for WHY the press is dropping the ball on the Obamacare discussion...i'm not even going to pretend to try and detail that mess here on fark. I just think it's pretty sad that the fark politics tab is far more informative about the health care discussion than CNN or Fox News.

Well, you kind of have to work for it a bit on Fark. You know, read. And think critically about the different positions. That's hard.

But seriously, whatever anyone thinks, the politics tab is actually pretty intellectual. Compare to Yahoo comments if you doubt that.

2012-07-03 07:18:32 PM
FTFQ: 7. Will the health reform law require all businesses, even the smallest ones, to provide health insurance for their employees? No, the law will not do this. 25% got this right.
9. Will the health reform law create a new government run insurance plan to be offered along with private plans? No, the law will not do this. 27% got this right.

How do people score below random chance on these?

That said - yeah, I plan to. :)

10/10, and yes it is definitely a tax hike.

If my taxes go up because of new legislation, that is a tax hike.

2012-07-03 07:19:46 PM
I got 10 out of 10. The problem is that the quiz only covers a limited number of things that are in the bill in a cherry picking way.

So yes I do know whats in the bill and yes I think it's a piece of shiat that makes what's wrong with our current "health care" system worse.

What's that Subby? Oh really...well fark you too.

Pincy: spongeboob: So a nurse anesthetist today told me she is worried because Obamacare will add millions to the insurance roles and that we don't have enough doctors as it is and people who already have insurance will now have to wait even longer to get into see doctors.
e pr
And of course there is nothing we could do, absolutely nothing, no incentives, no financial aid, nothing we could do facilitate an increse in the numbers of health care professionals needed to adequately take care of everyone.

I guess I could have said something about capitalism and if there are more people consuming health care that there is money to be made and free enterprise will find away to fill the void, but she then went on to how reimbursment is going down so people aren't going into medicine. I really don't get people like her on the one hand they don't want governement involved they say but then they complain about the insurance companies who are Private industry. When she asked me how I felt Obamacare I told her what I am telling everyone, I wanted a public option but I'll take what we can get,

Dislike may be a bit strong, actually. I like a lot of it, but a public option (or, heaven forbid, single payer system) would've been much, much better.

Telephone interviews conducted by landline (803) and cell phone (404....)

Lets see here:

803 - South Carolina
404 - Georgia (Atlanta and area)

Can we apply any stereotypes to explain the "You did better than 99.6% of Americans" most farkers are getting?

/Canadian, 10/10, informed by the fake news, thanks Colbert/Stuart.
