(Kaiser Family Foundation)   Before you go yelling about how Obamacare is evil, a tax, will kill grandma, etc, maybe you should take this quiz to see if you even know what's in the bill. Subby got 9/10   (healthreform.kff.org) divider line 740

10 of 10.

8 of 10, better than 90% of Americans and worse than 100% of Farkers so far.

9 out of 10 for me

Likewise

You answered 8 out of 10 questions correctly, better than 90% of Americans.

If it wasn't for Fark I would have had to answer "don't know" to them all. It's funny what one learns without even trying to.

2012-07-03 12:46:45 PM
I got a 9/10 because I read a question incorrectly.

2012-07-03 12:47:58 PM
9/10 - I misread question 7.

2012-07-03 12:52:33 PM
10/10! Woohoo. I just thought for each question, "what would a Republican think or do," then chose the opposite. It worked for all but #10.

That is sad.

9/10

I thought there was as slow roll-out of the number of people covered. That is to say, I missed #1.

2012-07-03 01:04:31 PM
I disagree with #1:

Will the health reform law require nearly all Americans to have health insurance starting in 2014 or else pay a fine?

I said no.

Their answer says yes, for this reason:

Yes. Starting in 2014, most U.S. citizens and legal residents will be required to obtain health coverage, or pay a penalty. Some exemptions will be granted, for example, for those with religious objections or where insurance would cost more than 8% of their income.

"Nearly all" is nebulous. I was factoring in those low-income people who would not get fined.

FTFS: You answered 10 out of 10 questions correctly, better than 99.6% of Americans.

It's frightening that so many Americans are so un/misinformed about this law.

That quiz couldn't possibly have been easier. No trick questions. Nothing that hasn't been in the news for years.

2012-07-03 01:08:26 PM
I missed the first one, got the rest correct. I thought the correct date for the first one was 2016, not 2014.

Still better than 97% of Americans.

Suck it, all but .4% of Americans.

You sheep are headed to your own enslavement. You can't just READ all thousand+ pages of the Unaffordable Tax Act, you need to read between the lines. If you are interline-illiterate, I suggest you head over to glennbeck.com right now and read the truth about obamacare, as interpreted by experts.

10 / 10, but I have to admit, I thought a couple of them were trick questions.

Kaiser offers a fact sheet about the survey.

Apparently (surprise, surprise), the people most against the law are also the ones most un/misinformed about it.

Republicans are less well-informed about the provisions of the law than Democrats or Independents. People who believe the ACA will make them worse off are much more poorly informed than those who believe it will leave them better off. Fox "News" viewers were, by far, the worst informed infromed. Older persons were less well informed than younger persons.

I guess you can be apolitical and still be informed. Though it's getting harder and harder as the years go on...

9 out of 10. I answered "no" on the first one because technically it doesn't assess a fine, but you don't get a tax deduction. I don't think that qualifies as a fine.

2012-07-03 01:29:28 PM
Sadly my dad has now embraced the latest talking point "We're adding health coverage for all of these people, but we haven't added any doctors!". Because, no one gets sick unless they have health coverage.

9/10 - missed the Medicare one because I'm not sure I agree with the interpretation.

You liberals completely miss the point. This law is not the sum of its parts. This law is the unholy spawn of a devil's threesome with Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi in the middle. I've seen the video. We cannot let this baby live. We have to throw holy water on its horned head now, or we will all be damned to watch it ravage the countryside, growing larger and larger as it feasts on frogs and winged insects, setting fires with its glance, knocking over buldings with its forked tail. Brave Tea Party Patriots will stand in its way, the men holding their shotguns and the women and children their Bibles, but the pellets will bounce off the beast and the Lord will turn a deaf ear to the prayers. For we will have proved our wickedness by allowing this law.

With all the coverage PPACA's gotten, esp. in the last few days, you'd think more people would know what the hell the law is about.

Wait, whom am I kidding? We're talking about Americans here.

Save for one notable news and COMMENTARY organization that has a reputation for being, shall we say, rather selective in their information distribution strategies.

I got 9/10... But I honestly thought that there were some cuts to Medicare involved. Or is the distinction that people CURRENTLY ON Medicare won't see any cuts, while coverage may be scaled back a little for future participants? Or am I completely wrong about that altogether?

2012-07-03 02:37:56 PM
10/10 Although I really try to stay apolitical on Facebook, I'm posting this along with ACA as explained to a five-year-old, etc.. Am going with the theory that between now and the election we _really_ need to start getting the word out about what the law does. Maybe if people realize it is not the big bad boogie man they've been brainwashed with, it will take the wind out of the sails of the Repubs. McConnell is already backing off.
